Gen. Wade’s term sheet details: 7 yr/$30m. Will NOT REPORT DIRECTLY TO VERGE

Wade’s deal will pay him $4 million in the first year of the deal and will increase by $100,000 until he makes $4.5 million in each of the final two years of his deal.
quote:
The term sheet also states that Wade will report directly to former McNeese State athletic director Heath Schroyer
quote:
Additionally, Wade will be paid $50,000 if he gets LSU to the NCAA Tournament and $100,000 if LSU reaches the Round of 32. He will receive $300,000 if the Tigers reach the Final Four and $800,000 if they win the national championship.
quote:
He will be paid 75% of his remaining salary if LSU fires him without cause. That includes a “duty to mitigate” clause that would require Wade to seek “other basketball or athletics-related employment” for him to receive his payments from the school if his deal were terminated without cause.
His buyout, if he took another head coaching job on or before April 1, 2027, is $5 million. That number decreases by $1 million each year before hitting zero on April 2, 2032. Fifty percent of his buyout would have to be paid within 30 days of his LSU contract getting terminated, while the remaining 50% would need to be paid within a year.

Where does 4.2m per year put him compared to other coaches

According to google, $4.2m puts him somewhere 12-20 of top paid coaches

Would really like to know what reporting to directly to Schroyer means?
Seems like an Odd arrangement.

Aren't we hiring his former AD at Mcnees to a position?

Ok, that makes sense, about where he is in my eyes among the elites

I think it's just a contingency on Wade's part. He is part of the old guard that sent him packing. I don't expect there to be any issues. If you're Verge, ypu understand but you have to feel slighted.
ETA: easy on LSU's part though, it's not like anybody has been successful in basketball at LSU anyway.

If he makes the tournament every year and can make some deep runs, iam sure he would get extensions and bump in pay.

It means he has a a basketball guy who’s goal is to promote and protect the basketball program making the decisions about how his money time etc are allocated.
I’m sure will like many on this board thought part of Scott’s stance was protect and promote football at the expense of basketball.

It means he didn’t want one of the old guard that pushed him out over him. Likely that Verge has no say in how basketball is run, it’s Schroyer and Will Wade running that.
ETA: Verge was on the tarmac, but Schroyer was on the plane.

This is the correct answer

Or maybe he’s confident enough not to be handcuffed directly into the middle of every detail of LSU Atheltic department.
It takes a confident and grounded man to free himself of demand constraints.

They were good friends at McNeese

That’s a lot of pears

What a clown take.
Verge got shoved in the corner and told to deal with it. Verge politicked his way into the AD job but the new bosses wouldn't allow him to screw up bringing Wade back.
