I love the whole bringing back tPear thing. Yes, he's an upgrade from status quo. But if we're being honest about it - is he an elite coach??

- 1 sweet 16 appearance during his tenure.
- .670 overall record, .625 in SEC: Again - good, higher tier, but not elite like other coaches
- No consistent or deep runs in MArch
- Barely won more than half his games at NC State

Will you be happy with a similar record over the next 5 yrs as he had here in his previous 5? I don't think so. People are going to expect more - not just regular season wins, but consistent tourney appearances and he has not shown he can do that anywhere. That said, I'll be cheering for the Tigers regardless.

John Brady went to a final 4.
He’s elite?

I just want to make the tourney and not be a punchline. Wade will do that.

I’m just glad to be excited about the program again. He’s the polar opposite of my biggest gripe about Les Miles which was that I watch sports to be entertained and Les was not entertaining. Will Wade is about as fun as it gets across the board, even if we don’t win 3 national championships I’ll still get my money’s worth

This is not a fair conclusion. And honestly, just not factual or warranted.
1. Wade didn’t get to coach in one of our post season runs due to the drama.
2. Our best team under him on paper was during Covid, so we don’t know what they would have done.
3. He has the best SEC win percentage in LSU history, by a lot.

He brought McNeese from the dumps and flipped NC State to a tourney team in his first year there. He is elite by that majority of college BB programs outside of the 5 or 6 blue bloods.

Another “fan” who doesn’t understand college basketball in the slightest.

Dude was great with a under the table budget. Now he actually has a legit NIL budget to build a championship team.

He gave us consistent tournament teams in his previous stint. I’ll take that right now

You right. We should’ve hired Jon Scheyer from Duke!

this is not the flex you think it is given LSU's horrible performance in MBB for decades. We've always been a "football school"

I don’t need LSU basketball to win national championships. If they do, fricking awesome, but it’s not the expectation for this program.

As long as they’re entertaining to watch, challenging for SEC titles, and a regular fixture in the Tourney who can make a run every couple years, I’m satisfied. Wade has already done that in his previous tenure, and there’s potential for more.

Making the tourney every year is the goal. Coaches who do that are the elite coaches. Nobody says Kelvin Sampson or Bruce Pearl are anything but elite despite neither ever winning a title in a combined 80+ years of coaching. Jim Boeheim won 1 title in 47 years, do you think they miss him in Syracuse right now? These people don’t follow college basketball, they don’t know what they’re talking about.

McMahon was drowning. LSU needed someone that could inject some life back into the PMAC. Wade will at least get you back in the tourney consistently and make noise.

Didn't Dale Brown take us to the tourney 10 years in a row?
