Kharg Island is pretty small. Supposedly there are significant dug in Iranian troops there.

It definitely isn’t mainland Iran if they invade. Iran is 3x the geographic range of Afghanistan and would require a deployment of at least 500,000 troops.

Not saying Jack doesn’t have a source that could disclose this to him but it’s very unlikely he has a source telling him this kind of critical information. Could a ground invasion happen in 72 hours, it’s possible.

Except ... we only have one Airborne Division, my All-Americans at Bragg.
And we wouldn't send them all, not for this. We'd send a Brigade, whomever is on RDF1.
We've got some ABCTs in Alaska and Vicenza, Italy. They wouldn't use the Winter Warriors in Alaska for a ME operation.
They might, maybe, I dunno ... use the guys in Vicenza. I mean they used us after the bombing on the Marine Barracks in Beruit.
If they use The Deuce to take Kharg, with the crayon eaters doing their amphibious landing thing ... well, that could be interesting. I would imagine they would send in a Ranger Regiment from 2nd or 3rd as well.
There must be something on Kharg that we really want to take and hold.

More than likely we’ve had Force Recon Units on the ground for quite sometime gathering intel in key areas. Them boys can be in your backyard and breaking in your home for days and you would never know they was around.
You can gather only so much information and intelligence from the sky, you still need special operators gathering real time data on movements, patterns and routines.
