Trump came to Dover when my wife was killed by ISIS. He absolutely respects our service.

This soldier definitely got it!! What a story.

quote:

I'd never met a president before Donald Trump. His empathy and thoughtfulness on one of the worst days of my life won my gratitude.

President Trump’s actions have shown our troops more respect than any president in my lifetime. His use of decisive military force only when absolutely necessary, combined with his reluctance to use the military as the sole tool of foreign policy, is not only good and smart, but the sign of utmost respect for the lives of our troops.

America — and the men and women in uniform — need a president who will ask the hard questions about why we are fighting and dying and, yes, whether it was or will be worth it, and then will do his utmost to protect America, our troops, its military and its standing as the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen.

Joe Admits POTUS Trump Understands Completely!!

Deepest motivations aside, Trump understands human nature very well. As a Capitalist he lends due respect and is a true Boss.

It matters greatly to service members who the commander in chief is that they serve under. But no matter who it is, they still respect the office and serve proudly. I wouldn’t enlist until President Reagan beat Jimmy Carter.

God bless President Trump.

I joined the Navy in 1992. Bush Sr. was POTUS. Election year and Clinton comes in. A chief that I was close to, asked me my plans. I told him I really liked the life, and thinking about doing it as a career. Hhe said things are about to change for the worse. Serve out your enlistment and use the education benefits to better your life. I was 22, skeptical of the advice. Then "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" came in. Next was chicks on combat ships. Got pregnant underway, immediately removed from the boat, and 4 dudes are now doing the work for 5. Ran into Marines while in GITMO, who just left Somalia and got to hear about that shitshow. Was forced into a day sexual harrassment training due to the original "Tailhook Scandal". Overnight, our military fighting force was almost castrated.

Point is, that Mexican-American Chief was dealing out some really good advice. I ended up taking it, got some good training and used GI benefits to greatly enhance my future life. I would gladly serve under the current POTUS, but Obama and Biden? I really think they both saw the common enlisted as cannon fodder and did not give a single thought about it. Biden checking his watch while dead Marines and Navy Hospital Corpsman were being unloaded in coffins with their family in attendance!

In Trump's first term, he visited service members at Walter Reed and refused press or pics. But it still leaked out. That told me tons about that man. Again, I would gladly serve under this leadership.

former Army captain I worked with after his retirement from the service told me he had chewed out a young woman, private or corporal or whatever, and she ran and "told on him" to a colonel.

colonel called in the captain and ripped him a new one for hurting the little brat girl's feelings

unreal

Colonel should have torn into her for not following the chain of command!

Very well said. I'd say also it matters even if you've been out quite a while. After Hussein's complete indifference to veterans, Trump was a breath of fresh air with his respect for veterans. It makes a huge difference.

Shouldn't this be sort of a bare minimum for any president?

I agree, 100% brother! I would have loved to serve under Donald Trump as my Commander-In-Chief! But Gerald Ford wasn't too bad, not remotely like Trump but not bad.

I know several fighter pilots that left service under Clinton with over 15 but under 20 years in. Things had gotten so bad they walked away from a pension because flying fighters wasn’t safe any more. Maintainers were forced to canabilize planes to keep some in the air.

Not only was the force gutted in every branch but now we have these dumb "have to do it because it happens" lectures. I know stuff happens but people are gonna SA or drive drunk no matter what you tell them. The people that do that stuff do not care about anyone but themselves otherwise that wouldn't happen. No coincidence that ARI's increased as soon as the force was reduced. This isn't rocket science. I'm about to get out once I graduate and get a decent job. 6 years active and over 6 reserve.

it will be tough.

But I’m sure America will find a way without you.

One might read this op and think just how off course we have gone to lead such a soldier, who obviously respected Trump and vice versa, to resign from Trump’s Administration because of recent actions.

That sounds reasonable.

Or, instead, one might read this op and think how much of a traitor/foreign agent/secret underminer the soldier is.

That sounds… [cough] reasonable.
