There is rarely any instate high school talent .Whether that's coaching or just most athletes choosing football .

It’s easy to think that because we miss on it year after year. Houston pretty much gets their pick when we have a highly rated guy.

Alabama has one scholarship player on their team from Alabama. This isn't football. While it would be nice, high end in-state talent is not necessary

Nah, LA ranks pretty high in NVA players per capita. Top 10 for sure and likely higher most of the time. We just don’t get them at LSU or haven’t for awhile

There is talent, but most coaches since Dale Brown hasn't really recruited them.

How many schools have gone to a final 4 with a starting 5 from the home state?

Have you heard of Jon Brady?

The 2006 team was basically entire Boot Boys except for Ben Voogd.

I’ve heard of Jan, but she was no Marcia.

There isnt much talent in LA, its true, but we dont need there to be; some of the best teams in the country have almost nobody from their home state. This is national recruiting landscape to be successful

In state means nothing. Look at the class Wade had coming in his last year. Was going to be a great class that fell apart when he was let go.

Will isn't a good coach. He could have all the talent in the world but would still be weak. Look at this year's huge choke at the end of the season.

We don't need a coach full of bluster, big talk, and a nickname.

Very few big guys. Some guards. Rarely a five star. Very few top 100 players.

The thing that really hurts LSU basketball is having a walking corpse acting as head coach the last 4 years!

5 star center playing for Houston as a freshman this year. Their PF is also from Louisiana.

There is plenty of excellent high school basketball talent in Louisiana. But the elite players end up going to Duke, or UConn, or Michigan, or across the border to three or four Texas schools that made the tourney-- not LSU.

Now if you're looking for a successful instate men's basketball team wearing purple and gold, look no further than my former campus-- LSU-S. The Pilots just completed a 28-6 overall record (20-2 RRAC champs, reg season & tourney). They're competing in the NAIA national tourney, having just def. Texas A&M-Texarkana in the first round.
