I think that we would be pretty naive to think that there aren’t people who are privy to information like this beforehand that will allow them, or people they know, to profit.

Doesn't matter. They are exempt from insider trading. Until that little tidbit is removed, they will continue to make millions doing what would get any peon tossed in jail.
