White House border czar Tom Homan said Sunday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers will not be directly involved in security scanning measures at airports, a day before agency officials will begin assisting Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees.

“Wherever we can provide extra security, I don’t see an ICE agent looking at an X-ray machine, because we’re not trained in that,” Homan told host Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“But there are certain parts of security that TSA is doing that we can move them off those jobs, and put them in the specialized jobs to help move those lines,” he added.

quote:

“ICE agents are assigned at many airports across the country already,” he told Bash. “They do a lot of investigation, criminal investigation on smuggling at airports. But you got TSA agents covering exits, people that enter through the exits.”

“Certainly, a highly trained ICE law enforcement officer can cover an exit and makes sure people don’t go through those exits, entering the airport through the exits,” he said. “And stuff like that relieves that TSA officer to go to screening and to reduce those lines.”

Sounds like much ado about nothing, just a reallocation of resources to hopefully move the lines quicker. But I'm social media from both sides will somehow paint a very different picture

He said they just wouldn't be running the scanners because they had not been trained on them. They will be there for everything else.

You could replace all of TSA that passengers see (except for scanners, not that they're awesome) with bouncers:
1. Let me see your ID
2. You can't come in without a ticket
3. Once you leave you can't come back in

Just saw a dumbass FB post today about this shite. Poster was blaming Trump. Do not underestimate the sheer amount of retardation that walks among us. These are the people who can tell you every American Idol winner, but struggles to name one of their two senators. VP is a bonus question they routinely get wrong.

Privatize TSA. It would run more smoothly and with better security results. Government shutdowns would not affect it, and it would cost us a whole lot less.

The only department our government has that can't be done better by a private company, is the military.

What the hell are they even talking about? Illegal aliens sneaking into airports through the “out” door? All doors at airports and bus stations are open.

At Nashville, the "out" doors are automatic and only open from the inside out. And the last time I saw a TSA agent standing there to make sure some random person didn't try to slip in while an arriving passenger exited was never.

I don’t understand why airports/airlines/cities aren't paying for this anyway.

I'd have to imagine its $$$.

What do airports pay for TSA agents and or do they? Where does the $5.50 passengers pay go if an airport chooses private security?
