The fans getting their hopes up about getting Will Wade back. The fans were checked out regardles, but after these Wade rumors theres no way they can trot him back out there. He cant come back from this.

No it's not, he's still employed currently.

It's also the worst case scenario for LSU, considering Wade is likely not coming back so any new coach they ultimately hire will seem underwhelming because of how much Wade's return based on, at best, flimsy conjecture has been eaten up by the fans as 100% fact.

There is no “worst” case for McMahon.

Still the coach gets paid

Fired gets paid

He’s good.

Yea if the plan isn't to move on from CMM they have done about everything they can to nuke next season lmao. I know he's getting paid more money than I can ever imagine but feel like If I was him I would try and get a large buyout now and bail.

Even a statement of support now will feel like "Hey Wade told us no so we are stuck"

I’ve been thinking about this the last couple weeks. I actually feel bad for MM in the event they keep him for another year. He knows how the fan base feels. He is in a no win situation until he is released from LSU, whenever that may be.

They could have done him a favor and moved on last offseason but Fatworth couldn’t stomach pardon the pun an opening while Wade was at McNeese.

LSU better decide something soon if they want to have any chance of success in the portal

MM made his own be by losing at a ridiculous rate and not really doing much to engage the fanbase. He's a highly paid professional. He'll be fine. Frankly, I don't think he would be all that upset if LSU did fire him. That way he gets some buyout money and can move on with his career. The problem is the $2.4M (annually) he would get in buyout money is probably 3x-5x more than he could make (annually) as a mid-major HC. So it is not a great financial move for him to voluntarily leave.

In some ways he's in a great spot. He's basically starting at the ground level with ZERO expectations of success and, by his own doing, an incredibly low bar for "success" in the eyes of his supporters. At many schools winning 6-7 conference games and not being mentioned for the NCAA Tournament would get you fired. But for McMahon and his supporters, it would be seen as "great improvement" and cause for optimisms

He's pretty much used to it. It's been the same crap since he was hired as far as people still pining for Wade.

It's completely crappy to hold him in limbo waiting for Wade though. He's either good enough for the job or he isn't.

The melt that's going to happen if we don't get wade is going to be unbearable.

I would be happy if somehow next year (since McMahon is apparently staying) we go 5-13 SEC and finish one game over .500 for the season. Nothing less than that is acceptable.

The funny thing is this year I haven't heard crickets bout recruits or portal targets, other than that Australian star Owen Foxwell. It's like there's a serious cap over communication. We haven't even heard for certain that CMM will be back.

He needs to be fired regardless of if we can get Wade or not.

You can’t be a serious basketball program with a coach that is 17-55 and can’t raise money. The guy is as boring as he is bad at coaching.

No program should be giving away MBB tickets

We aren't giving them away. You have to bring a canned good or a ticket for a sport with an actual coach. This is the way to go unless you are a sucker who pays for a season ticket.
