China does not currently plan to invade Taiwan in 2027 and seeks to control the island without the use of force, the US intelligence community said, striking a measured tone on one of the world's ?biggest potential flashpoints

If i was Xi, this is the way. It has never made sense to get into a dubious war over it. They will take it by osmosis over time. China doves do better and better each election cycle there.

They pump money in China friendly politicians, businesses, and executive coffers. It will happen eventually. They also run smear campaigns on anti-China people and businesses.
ETA:
Assuming the CIA does the same for us, but doubtful we have the impact China does based on proximity, culture differences, etc.
