Kipers recent list has Love, Downs and Styles off the board before #8

Leaves prospect like
- Carnell Tate WR
- Bain DE
- Delane CB
- Tyson WR

If the most valued goes off board early, who would you like to see?

Downs is my favorite prospect outside of Love.
Delane would be great addition with Taylor gone. WR help to accommodate Shough.

Trading back to gain capital help the Saints?

Interesting spot to be in.

I love Delane and Tyson from Arizona State.

Lots of options

These are the blue chip type guys. If that’s the case, I might solidify the O-line with Freeling/Mauigoa/ Ioane (trade down?), or Tate.

Just don’t pick Bain or Tyson

Based on Kiper’s most recent mock:

1. Las Vegas Raiders: Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana.
2. New York Jets: David Bailey, OLB, Texas Tech.
3. Arizona Cardinals: Arvell Reese, OLB, Ohio State.
4. Tennessee Titans: Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame.
5. New York Giants: Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State.
7. Washington Commanders: Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State.

I would take either Carnell Tate, Mansoor Delane, or the teams preference of Olaivavega Ioane, Francis Mauigoa or Spencer Fano.

Lemon me

Gonna be a great pro. Hyper competitive. Locker room leader. Position of need, skill set a perfect fit.

We gotta hit with this pick. High floor with upside.

What's the hate for Bain?

If Bain is on the board the Saints should take him...

They shouldn’t pick an outlier player in the top 10. I don’t like his build/length and lack of get off speed

I want to land 1 of Styles, Downs or Bailey ideally… but in this scenario and they’re all gone, I’d really hope we could trade back, but there may not be a team wanting to jump up. If we stay at 8 I think you’ve got to take a player you think can be an all pro type player…. And that’s Ioane. He’s probably the 5th best talent in the draft… you immediately improve the OL and try to trade Ruiz

Would be absolutely fricking retarded picking a guard that high. You can get the best player at a money position, corner or receiver then.

If Ioane is the pick, surely we'd trade a few spots before taking him. If Downs, Bailey and Reese are gone at 8, that would be my ideal scenario. Trade down, grab an extra day two pick and still get an all-pro caliber player at a position of need. As long as Ruiz is still our starting RG, that's still a huge need for this team. And we're paying $15 mil per year for a decent starter, so imagine what someone like Ioane would cost in FA. You can absolutely justify that pick.

Just make this OL the strongest unit in the league and have Shough set with an elite group protecting him.

Saintss just need to take the most surefire talent at 8 remaining on the board.

If it happens like that, the best option would absolutely be trading back if possible to get another 2nd or 3rd, but noone else will wanna move up in that scenario most likely

In that scenario, if a trade down is impossible, you absolutely take the best wr, cb, or de. No need to frick around with anything else. There would be a realistic 6 or so options out of those 3 positions.

If they hit then you save yourself $30+ mil per needing to get someone at one of those spots in FA next year (hell might be $40 mil at that point if the cap jumps again like this year).

Also why I lean away from Love, Styles, and even Downs unless they are so far and away better than the other options at that pick. At best they save you about $15 mil per in FA next year. You can fill 2 of these positions for the price of one of the others.

I also think this is partly why we haven't extended Olave yet, because if we take a receiver and he hits big we might really just move on (and I'm not an Olave hater, but the money is $35+ mil per and we can do a lot with that elsewhere IF we hit on receiver).

He said even if we stayed at 8 to pick him. You never pick a guard when you have the chance to take the best at other money positions. There’s also a pretty decent bust rate for guards picked high.

They don’t effect the game enough and you can get good ones later in the draft.

Did we not sign a starting guard in free agency. Looking for Ruiz replacement with a top 10 pick is bad business. There are many holes on the roster. Take a guard on Day 3 to challenge Ruiz along with simpkins and Truss.

Trade down and pick up an extra 1st rounder next year unless your guy is there at 8!

For me, it would be between Bain or Delane in that scenario. I would be pissed if we didn't have a shot at Downs or Love.

In the OP's scenario, you can draft the best CB, the best WR or at worst the second best DE. You take any of the 3 and solidfy a money position on the cheap for a half decade.

IMO, Love, Downs and Styles all going before we draft is the best case scenario. Just get one of the OTs in the top 7 and we literally can't frick it up.

I would be shocked if Saints pass on Bain or Bailey if one happens to fall

I don’t think the public lines up with the teams’ view on Bain
