Are those pilots staying with those planes or shipped somewhere differently?

Do they use those planes in war? I thought they were essentially the Harlem Globetrotters of military airplanes.

They are a demonstration team. It’s a duty station. They rotate in from their squadrons for a year, stay with the team for a training and demo season, then rotate back out to their squadrons after the season is over.

Pretty crazy they’d send them to combat status as a squadron called the blue angels. No opfor would want to see that fricking group coming.

the Blue Angels pilots haven't fought since Korea, but most were elite fighters prior to becoming a blue angels

They do fancy tricks and out-maneuver the enemy on secret special missions.

They are there for 2 years. 6 piliots all together. Each year 3 stay, 3 leave and 3 new are added. They do this so there are experienced show pilots to train the 3 new ones who join the team.

I would bet that if they are critically needed those pilots will be flying war missions. I think the Blue Angels are great for recruiting.

Decades ago I wanted to fly, took all the tests, and they told me they wanted me on a submarine.

I’ll let you in on a little secret. The Blue Angels and Thunderbirds both - most of their maneuvers have nothing to do with aerial combat missions. They are for show.

Are they precise and good pilots? Absolutely.

Are they the best combat pilots?
Not necessarily.

Recruiting duty, basically. They are marketing the Navy to future pilots.

Would be pretty funny to see ole Jihadi's face when the formation came in tight and dropped some freedom seeds on his favorite goat.
