Couple of quick random thoughts from tonight’s game:

Sucks that it ended the way it did for Guidry. However, as weird as it sounds I think he solidified his role as the closer (at least for now), but only for one inning situations. Won’t be surprised to see him get the chance again, and soon
Evans has one more shot as the Friday night guy I think before Johnson gives the opportunity to someone else.
Vandy whistler can STTD.. my god it’s annoying
Sucks that we played the way we did. Sucks even more how the game ended… but I still think that Jay is tinkering with the lineup and filling roles so I’m not panicking at all. I still think this team can be really good despite the troubles right now
Thoughts?

You’re not winning with 11 bb. It doesn’t matter how you tinker with the lineup.
The idea LSU even had a chance with that pitching line is miraculous.

I agree with the OP. Jay has never given us a reason to believe he won’t turn it around. Agree we will give Evans one more chance.
Was happy we showed fight. I’ll feel much better if we win the next two though

Look at Guidrys stats and tell me he should be out closer. He’s basically the rant comparison to whoever is the back up qb. He’s not good enough and the stats prove it PERIOD

Completely agree. That’s got to change

Guidry is not a closer. He comes in for one inning and does well, flexes and pounds his chest, and then gives up base hits and a walk off home run. He’s a mid-game reliever and nothing more

Our loss tonight was based primarily on us giving too many free passes. Hopefully our starting pitching will be much better Sat and Sun.

I liked two things. Bats and fight till the end.
The bad stuff will get corrected.
Sheerin to weekend starter.
Evans to long relief.
Yamin to 1B.
Ruckert to 2B.
Dardar to 3B.
Rizy true closer.

I think Guidry can be a setup guy for 1 inning but I don't see him as a true closer. Not all closers are the overpowering types but that's what I think of when you talk about closers and he isn't that type. Just my opinion.

I would rather win than tinker

Guidry has some great pitches with a few occasional pitches that hang over the plate. His fast ball looks like it has no movement but was very impressive at 96 last night. I don’t recall him near that speed before, but he also has some devastating off speed pitches. He also doesn’t quite have the command when he stays in for very long. If he ever gains more control and gets more consistent in ball placement or movement on his fastball the sky is the limit for him.

Evans as a starter needs to end NOW. He did everything but yell to Johnson to take him. He looked like he was about to have a breakdown. Move him back to the Pen. This is obvious.

Maybe the cocky bs after every strikeout will cease after giving up that bomb.

Tinkering is how you start winning when it counts.

Cowan was the best he had last night. Gave us good work. Evans needs to move to a Sunday role. Slide the other two up a day.

Question:
Did we get any ‘these announcers are terrible’ threads whenever LSU went down? I wasn’t able to follow the rant during that part of the game

Relax TigerNation. My LSU Tigahs will recover and come back. This team is a winner. I agree with you assessment - IMO Coach Johnson is still tweeking that lineup.

Funny how some were saying he was best pitcher on the team not long ago.

They were okay. Some things they’d gloss over like the fact the their starter gave up 7 runs. To them “he got them to where they are at, in this game”.
The Vandyboys thing is extremely gay though and they said it a lot.
One of them referred to himself as an “arm” because he pitched at Vandy I think, and that’s the first time I’ve ever heard a pitcher do that before
BUT I thought they called a fair game. They obviously know more about Vandy but complimented LSU when it was time and even went against the umps when they made obvious bad calls against LSU
