If LSU does make a change, who are some names other than Wade would be a good fit?

If not Will Wade:
Bill Wade
William Wade

At this point, anyone who could win 4 SEC games in a season.

Would take him or Bill Armstrong tomorrow if Wade says no

If the Pear is not hired, just shut the program down.

Penny Hardaway could become available

Richard Pitino
Absolutely not.
He had one slightly above average season at a mid-major. His last name then landed him a Big 10 job where, in 8 years, he had a .360 conference winning %. He then dropped down a level to New Mexico and had ONE great season in 4 years. That (and mostly his last name, again) got him another power conf. job (if you consider the Big East a power conf in basketball) at Xavier. He went 14-17 (6-10) and finished tied for last in the conference this season.
If his name was Richard Ravioli he wouldn't have gotten any of those jobs. Don't ignore the resume because of the last name.

I’m going with Shaq’s pick.

I think LSU makes a move only if it has a commitment from Wade. Hypothetically if not Wade, Schertz would be in my wish list.

I like Schertz and it's probably not realistic but would love Bucky McMillan at A&M.
Obviously Wade is #1 target.

Gonna be hard for SFA to beat Mcneese in lake Charles tonight, either way ya can’t overlook the job he did at SFA this year. That being said, Armstrong has done a hell of a job too. I just lean more toward Matt because of his age and who he’s learned under

Which is stupid because if you don't hire Wade this year, what changes make you think you'll hire him next year? All of the same onerous expenses (ostensibly) keeping you from hiring him this year will still be there. Only now, the market for everything (coaches, players, etc) will have inflated again.
If Wade is your first choice then go get him NOW. If you don't want to pay the amount to do that, then hire someone else. Kicking this useless can down the road another season accomplishes nothing but further reducing your customer base.

A more under the radar name that I like is Eric Olen. He spent a number of years at UC San Diego and was the coach while they transitioned from DII to DI. He had them playing really well last year (30-5 record, lost in round one by 3 to Michigan). He took over at New Mexico this year, and while their record of 22-9 isn't eye-popping-ly impressive, they finished 3rd in the conference in his 1st season despite losing their entire roster to the portal, and they're currently projected to be in the "First Four Out" of the field per ESPN. I'd consider this a really good hire.

Whomever it is, avoid a long-term guaranteed contract.
