Which Pellet Grill to buy?

Going to finally pull the trigger on buying one. I value consistency and reliability. Is the Yoder S640 worth the extra money? I don’t mind spending money on something that will give me years of service. Is a campchef woodwind pro in the same ball park for nearly $1000 less? I know recteq gets a lot of love for the quality and customer service. They have models in the price range of the campchef.

I got a Recteq five years ago and love it. Does everything I need incredibly well and it’s so nice to be able to put whatever I’m cooking on and walk away.
I appreciate and respect the purist who cook the traditional way, but the convenience is sooo nice.

I have a Rectech and it's been great. I over bought size wise and don't get the heat I would like for some items. In those cases I use my Weber Kettle for those cooks.

I'm seriously considering the Blackstone Bronco Griddle Vertical Pellet Combo Smoker: Website
There just aren't that many reviews out there.

Recently went from a Z Grill to a Patio Legend Recteq when they were running a sale a few months ago.
The Recteq is a little smaller than my previous one(honestly the smaller size is perfect for my family of 3 as we don't do much hosting/cooking for groups), but everything else about it is top notch. Heats up way quicker, holds temps better, the tech is convenient, and all four legs being on wheels makes it really easy to move around back to where we store it after cooking. Now that the weather is changing looking forward to doing a bunch of long cooks on it.
The Z Grill is a perfectly fine grill as well it still worked the igniter burned out but easy fix when it got rehomed, I was just itching for something new.

I have a Camp Chef. No complaints. I've had no issues with it but people say that their customer service is great.

quote:I've only owned one Blackstone product and it was garbage. About 4 years ago I bought a deluxe 36" model griddle with the drawers and magnetic accessory rail. The paint was flaking off all over the damn thing within 30 days and regulator went out twice. And no level of maintenance and seasoning could keep the griddle rust-free.
Blackstone
I ended up replacing it with a Traeger Flatrock 2 years ago and have been happy ever since.
ETA- regarding pellet grills...I bought a Traeger Timberline LX a few months before I bought the Flatrock. I've been very happy with it. However, I think they're overpriced. But if it keeps on running as it has the last few years, it might be worth it in the end.
I've always heard that Recteq is a quality product. I have no experience with them at all but
I do hear their customer service has gone to shite in the last year or so. Lots of complaints on the message boards when there really weren't any before.

If it is within your budget then save yourself some headaches and buy one. I have always resisted going cheap on smokers. My G2 Chubby Backwoods is 13 years old and in great shape. At the time I could have spent half on some other cabinet smoker but I bet I have gotten twice the life out of this Backwoods.

If you can afford a Yoder, Pitts & Spitts or Mak - get one.
I have a Camp Chef Woodwind Pro 36 for the additional smoke box. I may get one of the top tier one day but I wanted to start off with something more affordable to see how much I used it before dropping more coin.

In the same boat. Been researching for about 6 months now. In the same 1k ballpark, give or take. I'm down to the Recteq, Camp Chef, or Searwood. I'm leaning Searwood right now really due to it's versatility and Weber's accessories.

If mine dies, I would probably go with Woodwind Pro because of the extra smoke box. I like the ability to put some actual pecan or oak wood.

I bought a Weber Searwood 600 last fall and have really enjoyed it. Simple to use, app works well, etc.
Smokin' Pecan pellets, made in Mansfield LA, are my go to. They are made with pecan shells, not wood, and give a nice flavor. The YouTuber guys love them. Pricey, but worth it for low and slow where the smoke flavor matters more and the grill sips pellets. For high-heat cooks that eat pellets, use cheaper ones.
The Basement Hangout YouTube channel is a couple of regular guys who do quality videos testing out various pellet cookers and recipes. I learned a lot watching them.

If that Yoder is within your budget, look at Lonestar Grillz also. I have the 36” and it has been amazing.

I have a recteq. Really happy with it. But, I can't speak to others, as I've not tried those.
