I was super excited that the jags didn’t overpay for him as my family are big jags fans. Now of course we go and do this.

It’s a lot but he will have a workhorse load and do it on both the air and ground. When you are paying your starting QBs pennies, you can spend more elsewhere.

Depends on the terms... Think of it this way:

If Love would make 6 million as the 8th pick, the difference is 7 million a year

If Tate would make 6 million a year and a FA wide receiver two would make 25, the difference is 19 million a year

If we get one of the premier defensive ends, and the going rate for a defensive end is north of 30 million a year, the difference is 25 million

Not surprised by this. Some of these contracts are absurd because of the rise in the cap. You have 2nd string guys getting $7 mil a year and a pass rusher who averages 7.6 sacks per 17 making $30 per.

Would have vastly preferred Walker for the little bit more he got, but at least HB is reasonable compared to other positions.

That last year could be a dummy year

The cap is liable to go up immensely soon as I’ve heard they’re trying to negotiate tv deals early on PFT recently

The listed 4 years is the actual years, but yes there will very likely be a 5th dummy year to fully spread the hit.

I hope I’m wrong but this sure as hell seems like an overpay

Yeah his actual per year will likely be at least a couple of million less by the time we move on.

Yeah this is good financial management if the thought process is we’re going after a DE/WR/OT (Fuaga to guard) at 8. You save way more money on one of those three positions on a rookie deal than you would at RB.
