The expectations of most fans.

We lost several stud pitchers, and don't have an Ace on the staff (you need 2 studs to be Omaha material).

We lost some key defensive players.

We needed all transfers in to be good, and that hasn't happened.

How about we judge Jay's team on the end of the season, instead of daily criticisms. We know what happened 2 of the last 3 years. Let's let Jay marinate before he cooks at the end of the year.

It’s LSU. The baseline expectation is Omaha. Period.

What is wrong is we haven't won all our games.

I agree
Jay will figure it out
I just hope this constant roster churn doesn't burn Jay out
Would love to see things trend back to where you can develop your team over time and not this portal madness every year

Setting the bar at not going 1-4 against non ranked teams in a week is pretty low. Also expecting your line up to score more than one run before the 7th isn't expecting much.

What’s really a head scratcher is which thing will get fixed first, Pitching, Hitting or Defense?

IMO we have three stud starting pitchers that will only get better and confirm that as the season moves on.

Starting pitchers has been the least of our problem. In fact, this is one of the few times in recent history that we have 3 legit weekend starters. It's the bullpen that has been the bigger letdown.

Completely agree, Dickinson and Braswell's defense was high quality. Jones' defense was very underrated at 1B, and Hernandez handled the staff really well last season. I think Jay felt he could sacrifice a little defense for more offense in the transfer portal and, like you said

that hasn't happened

Arrambide hasn't gotten much better behind the plate and his backup is a true freshman that isn't much better defensively and is really struggling offensively.

Brown and Curiel have been solid. Milam is off to his typical slow start offensively but has been a gold glover on defense. Bottom line, the new guys need to step up and earn their paycheck.

we’re in a slump.

that’s the long and short of it.

We were batting .367 the first 8 games.

It’s not like this team can’t hit at all

I woild be more concerned if we did this as soon as SEC play started.

Weekend starting pitching has not been the issue, they have done more than enough to have us competitive.

To me, it seems like we have a bunch of individuals out there playing baseball, not a team. One example was yorke swinging for the fences on Saturday, instead of just putting bat on ball and getting the ball in play, which more than likely been enough to at least tie the game.

I think the team can put it together and be successful, but I believe the individualism is just the nature of building rosters in the portal these days.

I agree with you on the three starters. They’ve been fine..
The bullpen guys have mostly been pretty good, but a couple untimely free passes have hurt us in a few games.

The hitting was great for the first 8 games and then fell off a flippping cliff.
Friday night was amazing. But otherwise our bats have been ice. Old for the last 10-12 days.

Once they get that fixed, we’ll be pretty good.

I’m hoping we can turn something on with vandy this weekend.

This is just an average team at best by LSU standards. We are due an off year and this year is it.

Why?

2022 and 2024 were both off years by LSU standards. Can Jay not put together two successful years in a row or does he always need an off year in between

I wouldn’t call 2024 that off of a year.
that team was solid by the end.
