Honest question here for the real experts on our baseball team. Are we seeing a lack of leadership, and if so, is it mainly due to having more transfer guys this year than ever? Talent level not where it was expected? Is Jay tinkering or is he frustrated? I fully expected somewhat of a rebuilding year after winning it all last year, but something seems way different this year.

I would definitely say there’s a lack of leadership but I don’t know if I would strictly place the blame on transfers. You have a couple guys that have been here for a few years that don’t do basic shite like running out a ground ball.

I mean Milam and Curiel have been shite what’s their excuse?

Everyone except Jake Brown has been terrible. Not just a portal thing.

These kids getting paid six figures and having smoke blown up their asses everywhere they go prob has a lot to do with it.

If you’re suggesting that Curiel has not been playing well, then I have to wonder if you are actually watching the games, or even looking at box scores.

Transfers are a problem in that they are not living up to being SEC caliber players, offensively or defensively. Pitching staff has big problems and the hitting woes are bad. On the field leadership from players is definitely a factor and is lacking. JJ better get it fixed quickly or the SEC will be a nightmare!

I wouldn't say Curiel is playing bad by any means, but I don't think he's meeting the lofty expectations everyone had for him.

He's striking out a lot more than he did last year and we haven't really seen the power he supposedly added in the off-season. Defensively, he again hasn't been perfect but has played a solid CF with the exception of one or two plays.

Curiel seems like he’s trying to do too much, reminds me of Duplantis his senior year when his average dropped below .300 for first time in his career but he hit 10+ HRs.

Honestly, that’s the case with most of these kids right now. They’re trying to do too much, Jay even said it in the post game presser in a round about way. They need to stop playing hero ball and play team baseball. That’s how you win games. And if they don’t buy in, sit them.
