Man arrested for intentionally running down 21 year old bicyclist in Jackson

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at approximately 11:14 am, 21-year-old Kaitlyn Mangum-Gast and a 36-year-old male were riding on one bicycle in the 4800 block of Chastain Drive when a white pickup truck driven by 57-year-old Shannon Thomas crashed into them.
During the follow-up investigation of this case, detectives discovered that the incident was intentional. It is now being investigated as city’s 13th homicide of the year.

I think it would be pretty easy to prove he targeted them because they were white.
They obviously wont do that because they have easier charges to pin on him. No point. But it seems quite clear as day.

Fine. We'll all pretend it wasn't. Apparently, MS has four means of execution: lethal injection, nitrogen hypoxia, electrocution, and firing squad. Since we can't prove it was a "hate" crime, I say MS only use 3 of the 4. Deal?
