You and your friend/wife/significant other are walking two abreast on a narrow sidewalk and come up to another person walking in the opposite direction.

Do you..

A) File in front of or behind the person you’re walking with to create space for the passerby so all can use the sidewalk,

B) Stay in step with your walking partner but crowd them to the outside forcing them to walk partially in the grass,

C) Stay as you are and expect the passerby to move off the sidewalk to let you pass.

Also, if you choose C, why are you a douche?

Lowest man wins. You both have to assert dominance.

And when people coming the opposite direction try to pull a C, I get ready to plow into them (unless it’s a little kid of a woman with a stroller or something like that). So far I haven’t lost a game of sidewalk chicken.

People who walk side by side on a sidewalk or down any hallway and force others who are oncoming to give way are scum.

So do I, and the onus is on the single stranger. He should step aside and tip his hat to the lady.

I find that option C is determined by demographics most of the time.

D) Make eye contact with the passerby, purposefully bump shoulders, give your phone and watch to your significant other, square up, and shoot a fair one.

A unless it’s someone with a dog or pushing a baby, then I’ll hop on the road to give them a wider path

Honestly, I would probably smile and move out of the way completely, especially for a woman

Walking in the UK is a total cluster because no one knows what side to go to with the tourists and locals

Scenario B is misworded if you are a male walking with a female. Males should always walk to the street side of a female. So B should ask if you step into the street and allow the female to move over to give the other person room to pass.

People who pick C are the same people who put their buggy on one side of the grocery aisle while they look at products on the other side, blocking the whole aisle.

If people try to C when I'm walking alone I remain in the sidewalk and stop while staring with an exasperated expression
