Domestic refineries in California have largely closed because of the Newsom mentality, and last month received 50 % of its special gas blend from Asian refineries who in large part got their oil through the straits. No pipelines to other western states. Special blend not made in western states for rail shipment. One of Calif. refineries completed shutting down in the last couple weeks, with another shutting down in June.

If the straits is closed for more than 4 weeks, 10 dollar gas in California results

Could California fix their supply issues by no longer requiring a different blend of gasoline from the rest of the country?

It's not his fault. He told us all recently he can't even read.

Do you expect them to do something reasonable? That is totally out of character.

First and final warning: trying to import common sense into Calif will not be tolerated, you and your bright ideas are not welcome!

California must suffer greatly before they will come to their senses. I don’t see it happening.

I just paid $4.29 for premium last weekend if we're at $10 in April everything is beyond screwed with all of the imports and our Ag industry ramping up. Diesel prices will be something to see.

Gasbuddy

That same Costco is now $4.49

So you're telling me to fill up again?

Seriously, we're in a weird spot. Air quality around here gets really, really bad during the summer and that's part of what the special blend is supposed to help guard against. The Valley has high levels of respiratory illnesses. There is a serious need to try and keep the air quality decent. It'll never be great during the summer but the Sierras disappear entirely and that's ridiculous. I can see them from my house right now and these are 10,000'+ peaks. There's a balance that needs to be struck between cleaner emissions and the state crippling people with high gas taxes and driving off businesses like you mentioned. But we voted enough of these loons into power and shite happens with their agenda that takes no prisoners. $5 gas is built into my monthly budget. When it goes higher than that I start to grumble. I can't imagine how I'd react to $10 gas with the traveling we do to visit our clients.

I couldn't tell you the last time I saw prices that low. Enjoy it!

We were in the $3-$4 range during Trump's first term and that was pretty awesome. It was something like $50 to fill up. Right now it's around $75 with our midsize SUV.

True but zero link to emissions. Most of the respiratory issues in the valley are a result of valley fever.

For those that didn't click the link, Valley Fever can kill you and it's in the soil. It has nothing to do with air quality and asthma which is what I was referencing.

That would make sense, so I expect them to make the blends even more difficult to make and rare to find.

I wouldnt care if everyone there had to walk wherever they wanted to go.

I'll have a first class ticket on my high speed rail from north Fresno to downtown. That's about 6-7 miles. Sadly, I don't live anywhere near where they're building the rail line. So I still need to figure that part out.

Let them fail. It’s the only way they will learn.

They might not have a choice. Have you looked at polling for Governor? Two Republicans lead, and the top two go to a runoff. We could end up with California having a choice but to elect a republican Governor. I fully expect that to not happen, but man it would be so funny if it did. The betting markets would make a ton of money on when the Governor gets recalled and removed from office.
