Don’t you bring common sense into this.

Passed a Chevron in Glendale yesterday that was $5.49 for regular. That’s the highest I’ve seen. Lowest is an Arco in Pasadena that was $4.39.

I would think that $7-$10 is possible if the war goes longer. I think right now we’re $2.25+ per gallon in taxes alone.

Stupid Democrats.

Jet fuel in Singapore went up 72% today. Thats a Petro fraction similar to diesel.

Expect them to go to the other way with it and demand that everyone move to electric vehicles sooner so they don't have to address high gas prices.

Why isn’t this straight completely under US control? What does Iran have left to factor into this straight? Furthermore, I thought Venezuela had world’s largest oil supply.

I think it was 2 or 3 years ago where we hit $6 during summer locally. SoCal would’ve been a little higher. Sometimes what you see posted here are extreme prices. A gas station in a remote stretch of PCH, a station close to LAX and a narrative forms that the state is paying those prices when that isn’t true. I did just check on our gas taxes and duck duck go said that average is $1.08 per gallon. So roughly 25% of what we pay and possibly higher depending on where you’re located.

I dont understand this. I get the problem, but it sounds like vehicle emissions is not the root of the problem….so why is there so much focus on gas blends? And if what i just said is correct (i am just going off of what i am reading here), then why aren’t the California residents kicking and screaming about more expensive gas when that isn’t going to address the air quality issue?

This is gonna be a long post so I apologize in advance.

Local vehicle emissions are a big driver along with what the Bay Area does and believe it or not the pollutants from Asia (China in particular) cross the Pacifc and settle in the Central Valley. We’ve got the Sierras immediately to our east and the Coastal Range to the west. They trap all sorts of particulates and it gets especially bad in Bakersfield where the San Gabriels come into play to the south.

The summer blend burns cleaner when our air is fairly stagnant. That’s something that we have control over (unlike the pollution from China). Right now it’s gorgeous out here and we have a nice breeze but that’ll be gone in a few months. So the natural filter that we have goes away and things settle.

So we’re stuck with Sacramento taxing the hell out of us because that’s what they do and creating a very difficult business environment for O&G. So they’ve smartly pulled out because it’s good business to do so. But the Valley needs cleaner burning fuels if we want to go outside and enjoy ourselves on the Valley floor and cut down on respiratory issues that come with higher medical costs. Only now we have to import it because Sacramento is full of idiots taxing anything they can which drives up the cost of everything you touch that comes into our ports to food that you eat from our fields and orchards, beef, dairy products that you use… all manner of goods. Sacramento is the problem and they could lower gas taxes to help out but they need the money so they won’t unless things get really truly bad. $6 gas won’t force the issue. $10… I can see that forcing their hands and giving us a temporary break from the taxes.

TLDR: nuke Sacramento and things will get better.
