For all the people saying Jay was playing 5D chess and stacking an insane amount of games out of the gate to purge the team and evaluate every aspect, Jay finally speaks to that decision “regretfully” This team is tired and burned out in week 3. Now they are probably going to be in their heads for a while about being good. I personally think they will bounce back and make another run. But the aggressive schedule early on was so unnecessary. They did the same thing last season, so I guess he figured this team can handle it. It is a lot of baseball in a short timeframe.

Respect to CJJ for his candor. That's also good for team morale.

Jay is used to having a lot of depth and this is a way for him figuring it out but it’s backfiring right now.

Besides pitching and catching playing baseball 5 out of 6 days for 18-22 year olds shouldn’t be this crushing.

Atleast doesnt blame it on them. Silly errors but plenty of time to adjust. Not gonna knock cjj. I’ve questioned his calls before and he ended up winning a title. It will be fine.

Ull might be pretty good this year.

What’s the practice schedule look like though? Jay is admitting he’s over working them

Exactly. I guess Jay has no clue the schedule of JUCO players. No weekly practice limit in JUCO.

ULL has played one less game than us and they were full of fire. I don’t want to hear about this being their Super Bowl either, we’re tired, blah. I played college ball. You ain’t tired after 4 games in 5 days.

I don’t care that they lost. It’s a long season. What I’d like to know is why are we so inept all of a sudden. JUCO teams could beat this pitching and fielding and this starting lineup would struggle against JUCO pitching right NOW.

Curiel is batting sub .275 now I believe. Yorke does walk a lot but isn’t going oppo or pushing runners and has prob struck out more this year already than he did all last season. Milam is starting to square up but has the popsies. Arrambide doesn’t watch ball to bat and is on a hope mission, which fits since he doesn’t watch the ball when he’s catching. His drop, bobbled, pass ball rate has got to be above 15%. Dardar and Carraway swing out of their shoes every time no matter the situation, but that’s at least produced some form of production. Jake Brown is the bright spot times 10.

Jay plays Reaves, Harden and others when Braun (the best hitter by Jay’s assertion in camp) is on the bench.

We average what… 2 errors per game these last 7-8.

WHAT are we coaching?

Jay’s being a good coach and covering for the player’s lack of performance. That’s it really. And Jay is a good coach for sure. But the performances and are indicative of poor or bad direction coaching and we are allowed to question that at millions of dollars per year he’s being paid. Is it possible after 2 Natty’s he’s letting down a touch and needs a new fire? Possibly. He’s human.

Regardless, some of his calls thus far are mind boggling.

This is so dumb. Every one of these kids grew up playing travel ball, playing Lord knows how many games every weekend. Baseball is meant to be an every day sport. How are they gonna survive minor league baseball? Just a dumb and lazy argument because the team isn’t playing well.

So older MLB players can play 6 per week for 6 months but these kids can't? Soft.

Again yes

Multiple things can be true at the same time. We're sitting 11-3 (0-0) and the real season doesn't start for another 8 days

Very stupid post. You think Jay has lost his fire lol?
Jay always makes interesting decisions but they are being scrutinized more with the losses. This board wanted him fired when he trotted out skenes game one in the regional against Tulane and that worked out perfectly. The boys aren’t playing well but Jay is the best coach in America and we will end up having a good season. Maybe not another natty season but it will be good
