Pitching is starting to dial in

3 runs allowed over the whole weekend is great to see. Especially Schmidt’s outing today. No walks over 7.1 is a massive improvement from where he was last year.
All the people who don’t watch baseball worried about hitting is overshadowing our pitching coming around. While I’m concerned about our offensive output lately, that is easier to improve than pitching.
I just don’t want people to gloss over what this pitching staff is starting to shape up to

Good summary. Hitting can be streaky. The pitching consistency provides optimism

Pitching this weekend has been Excellent. Outstanding. We have 3 legit starters (Evans, Moore, Schmidt) and 2 Elite relievers (Guidry, Sherrin), and several other pitchers on the cusp of being really good.

Jay will get it figured out.

Consistent pitching is harder than streaky hitting id rather see the pitching develop earlier than later

I agree with you.
This team is very talented.
JJ is a great coach.
They will hit a stride and be very difficult to beat.

I’d guess cowan now. I was hoping to see Noot, but his outing today, even if it was only one batter, might’ve ruined that.
ETA It could be Williams. He didn’t get the ball this weekend and they stretched him in the preseason.

Just like with every season, we truly won't know how good, bad or mediocre our pitching or hitting is until SEC play starts.
From a pitching standpoint, too many times has this board sung the praises of a dude because he shut down some ivy league school, only for him to be relegated to mop up duty by late SEC season/regionals.

I haven’t seen this much. If someone anoints a pitcher after a single good performance well, that’s nuts. But to have the three performances Schmidt has had so far? I’m starting to develop confidence in him. The wheels will probably come off for him once or twice this season but he should have a great year.

For Schmidt it seems all upstairs. Can he consistently throw strikes after someone in the SEC inevitably smokes one to the bleachers off him?
His command has improved, but he needs to stay steady when things go south.
