Tiger Rag Magazine says LSU only had a surplus of $3.8M in 2025 & in a mountain of debt

For 2026 according to Verge. Says no one is buying out Kelly and that was just a rumor. The entire Kiffin hire is betting on making it to the playoffs to be in the red and says football pays for every sport including baseball.
LSU in $30M red vs being a $1.54B franchise

So we hired Kiffin to lose money? That don’t even make sense.

I read the article and it left me with a lot of questions.
It said boosters couldn’t buy out BK because the state is obligated, but they went on to say boosters help buy out Orgeron.
It also said we just got 70+ million in revenues from the SEC distribution which was about 20 million dollars more than the previous year. That offsets the revenue sharing that begins this year.
They also talked about a large surplus put together over time.
I didn’t understand why they are short 30 million when the BK buyout is only about 10 million per year.
It is a very long article and very confusing.

Every athletic department is in uncertain times yet we are still one of the healthier situations.
That won’t stop Junior and Lulu from melting over some Glenn slop.

He credits the coaches who amplify it: “Kim Mulkey is part of that. Jay Johnson is part of that. Lane Kiffin is part of that… What Kim Mulkey brings to the table for us, we can’t buy. It’s priceess.”
Sounds like the people worrying about CJJ and baseball can relax a little and the "fire Mulkey, she costs too much" crowd will be crying themselves to sleep tonight.

I am not clicking that link after hovering over and seeing where it's coming from. Stop giving that guy clicks please.

Jay isn’t going anywhere. LSU baseball has a NIL war chest of 3+ million.

Because businesses (I know that it isn’t a true business) just love to show a huge surplus on the ledger….
What benefit does LSU get from showing huge profits from sports? What do they get out of showing any profit at all?
As long as they are marginally in the green and the product on the field is good, it’s a win.

lol if it said that about boosters not buying out Kelly, that is FALSE. Maybe, they don’t want to buy him out because paying it over time and waiting for him to find another job.

Exactly. Just say no to the Guil-deau.

Don't read Tiger Rag. I have looked at it as it were a gossip magazine since they brought on Guilbeau.

From Google AI
quote:
LSU women's basketball operates with one of the highest budgets in the country, spending approximately $12.09 million in the 2024-25 fiscal year, driven by high investments in head coach Kim Mulkey and her staff ($6M in salaries). Despite generating record ticket sales of over $1.6 million, the program operates at a deficit, with a loss of roughly $7.9 million reported in early 2026.

I read the quote before, shithead. It’s been posted here a million times. You can cook the books any way you want to. The point is the overall value Kim Mulkey brings to LSU athletics and Verge Ausberry is thrilled about it.
Or is your reading comprehension so lacking that you didn’t get the context of my post within the overall thread?

This is just stupid and clickbait to stir drama. There is no way even Woodward and LSU is that damn stupid to put LSU in that much debt and fire BK if they knew nobody was going to pay or help with the buyout. There is always 10 different stories with stuff like this but this article is by far the least believable of them all.

Great article.
Very informative.
That's what journalism looks like.
Too bad Tiger Droppings thinks reporting is posting childish high school videos from X and Instagram.

Debt is not bad as long as there is a fiscally responsible way to pay it off.
