This whole strategy of trying to create the conditions for the people to 'rise up' and take control isnt going to work. The hope is that the IRGC will be so weakened from the air and sea that the regular military (The Artesh), viewed as the ' people's army' and having a nationalist ideology rather than a religious one , will then be able to overwhelm them. Well, there's a few problems with this...

1) its no guarantee that the Artesh will revolt. For years the clerics have been surveilling and indoctrining the forces with islamist ideology...maybe they dont want to side with israel and the US, but yet the success of the entire operation rides entirely on them being able to do the dirty work on the ground. This was not a smart strategy by america/israel to leave it up to this group.

2) the Artesh does not have the weaponry and training to take down the IRGC who have been better funded for decades and have the majority of battle experience.

3) and the most important factor why this strategy will fail...you cant just defeat the IRGC from the air alone. Just like in Gaza, they have a huge network of underground tunnels where they store supplies and weapons. As soon as the Artesh is asked to carry out any ground operation, this is when the problems will start.

And guess what...american ground troops will then be asked to enter and save the operation eventually as I have predicted since day 1.

This was a bad idea and is very likely to backfire

You should have been with his team in the Situation Room. You seem to have all of the answers.

Oh look, another progressive wishcasting for boots on the ground so they can sky scream.

Sorry champ. We know you love violence, which is natural for a leftist. You won't get that fantasy (again) to come true.

It is OK though. No doubt one of your violent ilk will attack an innocent righty at some point today. You can get your jollies from that.

I think the odds that the Artesh rises up against the IRCG are like 70/30. And hundreds of American Green Berets will be imbedded with them to help lead the fight.

Ok. What if none of that happens and it does work?

Given your track record on this board OP, I am now very confident this operation will work splendidly.

Sorry you hate Trump more than murderous leaders who are killing their own people.

Seek mental help.

When Trump addressed the nation as the attack against Iran was taking place he also told the Iranian people they have a chance to take their country back, he added, this may be the Iranian people's only chance to rid themselves of the Theocratic Regime.

Said differently, Trump made no promises of 100% success with no casualties. Trump simply said the US is giving the Iranian people, who long for freedom a chance to take control of their nation.

The ayatollah should have hid in one of these.
Anyway, sorry for your loss.

Pinpoint strikes will drive the dynamic. Those A-10s will turn any close quarter skirmish opponents into mush. Just a matter of how long it takes before organized opposition goes insurgent. And with no rules in place that will be suicide. The people know their own neighborhood, and once armed will take care of business. House to house.

I'll wait and see if this is different from when:

Bush removed Saddam
Bush/Obama took out Taliban leaders in Afghanistan
Hillary killed Qaddafi in Egypt
Or other times the US removed a POS leader

None of those places are Pro USA, or have benefitted us. Maybe this time it'll be different.
