Rec Tec and their customer service

Everyone I know who owns a Rec Tec - myself included - has had a truly great experience with Rec Tec’s customer service.
But isn’t it a red flag that all of us have had experience with their customer service? It’s like they intentionally make their products break so that you feel great when they send you a part for free.
By contrast, I couldn’t tell you what Weber’s customer service is like.

Had mine for 6 years and zero issues.

Only reason I've ever had to deal with customer service is my own fault. Pre heated the bullseye without opening it and baked a plastic handle grill brush in it. Grill grate was not salvageable.
That said, Evan was wonderful to work with getting the new grate.

I’m not saying you are correct but I’ve had to call them on 3 different occasions for a pellet grill that’s 3 years old… and all 3 times it’s been when I had plans to cook that day and the grill wouldn’t work. They were kind and easy to deal with but I’m not buying another grill from them.
On a side note, anyone interested in a three year old bullet that needs a new controller? I’ll sell it to you for treefiddy

It was pretty good the couple times I called them years ago. Called on a Sunday afternoon, and a friendly American answered the phone and got me the part I needed. One time I had a shroud/lid getting rusty after 10+ years, back when they had like a 25 year warranty on that part. Called up, and they sent me a new one with no questions or request for pics.

way too many moving parts, electronics and other shite to break on those things. I know in theory that they make cooking easier but not if it’s always broken.
I’ll stick with charcoal and a chimney starter

I have had my Weber kettle performance for 15 years without any problems whatsoever and use it at least once a week. No electronics etc. Just a rain cover

I emailed them yesterday. I have a 3 1/2 year old 590 with a 4 year warranty. One of the numbers on the temp screen wasn’t showing up and paint on the lid is bubbling up/ rust.
They’re sending me a new “controller digitizer” and said they’re out of stock of the lids so they’re sending a can of high heat spray paint to touch up my lid.
Kind of aggravating but what can you do

Been having my Recteq for ~6 years. There was some shipping damage and customer service was easy and responsive. Never needed again. There is a rectec forum that I go to at times. If you have questions, they have a lot of people there that have good information.

Webers is excellent as well.
I haven't had anything break but when I call to order new parts to replace (grates etc) they pull my account up, if it's all under warranty still they ship them to me at no cost.
I haven't had anything break but my grill has no moving parts like my rec tec

Yep, that’s about how often I grilled when I had to light charcoal.
I use my Bullseye probably 3 times a week on average, because all I have to do is flip a switch to start it.
