From what I understand, Kansas did this effectively 'overnight'. Trans dude couldn't get on the wire to all trans-dudes and other mentally ill, to stage protests.

I used to not be able to renew my license at a kiosk at the DMV because I had a class D commercial endorsement. Pain in the arse. So I dropped it since I didn't need it anymore.
I guess I should have gotten on social media and cried about it.
