The Count of Monte Cristo (PBS) Limited Series

This 8-episode limited series is airing on PBS next month and all episodes will be available to stream starting March 1. You can get a free 7-day trial on Amazon Prime. It aired in Europe last year and is available from less reputable sources, which is how I watched it.
It is easily the most faithful adaptation of the book so far. The 2024 movie changed too much and the 2002 movie is essentially fan-fiction. While this might not have much star-power outside of the great Jeremy Irons, it’s worth watching if you’re a fan of the novel.

Call me a cheapskate, but why in the hell do we as American taxpayers have to pay extra to stream PBS?

Because your elected officials, and mine for that matter, voted to defund it.

Because their federal funding was cut and they have to depend on private donations like other broadcast stations.

Except it's ALWAYS been like that. The amount of times I wanted to stream something on PBS but found out to my chagrin that I needed to pay a subscription fee for something that I already paid for with my taxes is beyond count.

Looks like Fennick starring. He's damn good. Looks great, thanks.

I loved the 2002 version. I never knew the 2024 one existed.
What about 1975 version?
What about 1975 version?

Heywood: The Count of Monte Crisco...
Floyd: That's "Cristo" you dumb shite.
Heywood: ...by Alexandree Dumb-arse. Dumb-arse.
Andy Dufresne: Dumb-arse? "Dumas". You know what it's about? You'll like it, it's about a prison break.
Red: We oughta file that under "Educational" too, oughten we?

The 2024 version is in French. The new series is technically a joint French/Italian venture but all the dialogue is in English.
I should have clarified that it was the best adaptation I watched. I read the novel last year and watched the two most recent movies and the series after. After that I was pretty burnt out on the story to keep watching more versions of it.

Can you DVR it?
I plan to use YouTube TV DVR to record each episode.

My PBS masterpiece subscription is like $2 a month.

Or because our population is tired of kids being groomed to believe trans people normal, white males are the enemy of human existence, and Palestine is right.

My larger annoyance is that my LG TV doesn't allow me to download the PBS app so I can watch it on TV. I've been doing my Masterpiece subscription through Prime as a result.
Anyway, for OP, looking forward to the broadcast. Have my YTTV set to record it as well.

Are we talking about PBS? What grooming is antiques roadshow and Downtown Abbey doing?

The same reason why you have to pay for stamps.
