Is this a registration service for people who are independent truckers who live on the road?

In the industry, this is quite common. So much so that when setting up a new carrier company I always double check their listed address, many times just googling the address shows 10+ different businesses listed at the exact same address.

I don’t usually check for phones/emails, it is funny that many times the other businesses using that same address are often medical related.
So say a guy calls to book a load and I’ll run a quick check on them, it’ll show a company with only 1 truck/driver, but yet operating our of a big high rise in Chicago with an apartment or suite number attached. Googing that address/suite number usually yields a ton of other businesses and a service that offers to pay a fee to use that address to set up a business.

the YT channel "Bonehead Truckers" has shown the addresses of many of these "companies" and it is an apartment.
Seems many brokers(?) don't even do the basic level of checking that you do....

It’s a registered agent or some kind of service. It doesn’t mean there’s a big conspiracy afoot.

I believe that to be mostly true as well. Registered Agents can handle hundreds at a time. Mine is over 300 companies he represents.

Most likely owner operators all leased on to the same company.
Pretty common. Carriers like Landstar are 100% owner op.
Ordinary I’d say no big deal. But with it being California, prolly a bunch of injuns.

DISTURBING: We have learned that a truck driver with a Minnesota CDL who couldn't read basic road signs spent MILES driving the wrong way in an 80 TON truck!
Thanks to Missouri law enforcement, this dangerous trucker is now out of service. @FMCSA is also investigating the carrier, Cargo Transportation LLC.
We will not stop until America’s roads are safe again for families

10+ years ago I would agree with you. Now? I would bet fraud more likely than not - the way certain states have handed out CDLs like candy needs to be harshly addressed - like loss of federal funding harshly.
