Especially since in today’s world if you have an athletic kid, it’s pretty much required that he/she play travel ball. When I think about the money I spend on bats and gloved and everything else it’s sickening. Also, making travel ball equipment tax deductible could allow for some parents who were on the borderline financially to be able to put their kids into travel. Just a thought, what do you guys think?

Start an LLC for your kid and it can be. You can also pay him/her a salary and deduct that as well.*

*this is not tax advice. Seek advice from a tax professional.

should the money I spend on my hobbies, indulgences, and frivolous spending be tax deductible?

Deduction should be inversely related to the Dad's height and directly to the Mom's weight.

5'3" Dads > 6'0" Dads
230lb Mom > 130lb Mom

Tax tables can right travel ball nature's flaws, especially for tiny / heavy parents who heal their personal woulds vicariously via Jaxson.

Well Jose in Venezuela started out playing ball with a cardboard glove…he didn’t spend thousands of dollars on the greatest bats/gloves and still becoming a pro player.

Or you could not participate in the lunacy like any level headed person should. Your choice.

Tax deductible? frick all the way off. If that’s the case then all my hunting gear should be deductible because it’s wayyyyy more productive than GreyJackSyn’s new wildly overpriced Marrucci bat.

I think parents need to stop spending money on shite their kid doesn't need. I see kids wearing sliding mitts, leg/elbow guards, expensive sunglasses, multiple pairs of batting gloves while using a $500 bat and $300 glove and wearing an overpriced sweatshirt designed to look like an ice cream cone.....they don't need any of that shite.

I'm with you bro, I just bought an RV, I should be able to write that off since we will use it for travel tournaments.

I agree some parents go overboard with it. My sons only have 2 bats at any given time. And I try to keep them under $400. There definitely should be some kind of tax credit, even it’s just to claim 1 bat per kid per year or something like that.

I think it's not my job to subsidize your kid's extracurricular activities.

That’s kind of greedy, it’s kids man. I hope Trump pushes for tax credits of some sort for travel ball.

Have you seen the bags these kids are dragging around lately? I’d have room left over in these things for a month long trip to Europe.
