TrumpRx does not actually sell or distribute medications. It does not work with insurance. It only has 43 medications on it. Basically it is a government run version of GoodRx. They say it is still a work in progress and I hope it gets better because right now it is a dud.

ETA: Actually it worse than Good Rx. A 30 day supply of Protonix is $200 on TrumpRx but it is less than $20 at WalMart or Walgreens using GoodRx.

1. I have health insurance so it does not apply to me.

2. Diabetes medicines like Ozempic and Farxiga are some of the medications that are cheaper on TrumpRx than GoodRx.

No not at all. It is a good idea and I hope it works. However, the initial version of it is a major disappointment after what those in the healthcare business were told was going to be a game changer.

Do you honestly think the takers in the HC industry are going to willfully reduce their costs and lessen their bloated revenues at the flip of a switch?

The whole system has evolved to get you as a lifelong patient and profit off of your “diagnoses”. Eat crap, be sedentary, get filled with poly pharmacy and the nonstop parade of specialists to provide a “cure” as they profit.

There is no incentive for them to reduce their cost to you and they are incentivized to keep you in their system until you are no longer useful.

Generic protonix (pantoprazole) is that price. Switch to the brand and the price is identical.

The question is, why is Walgreens selling a 20 dollar product to some consumers at 200?

Which means it is stupid to buy the brand name instead of the generic.

You shouldn't be using Protonix in extended intervals btw.

They are not if the consumer is smart and uses GoodRx or SingleCare coupons. Most pharmacies go ahead and run a discount card without even asking if the patient is a cash patient. The better question to ask is why do they have to run a discount card in the first place? Why not just sell it for the price on the discount card?

The Department of Education is a prime example. It should be dismantled.
