We used to use cut nylon fire hoses. Burn the ends so they don’t fray.

I'd get these metal hinges and run metal bolts though the cooler wall and call it a day

Original Plastic Replacement Hinges

Find you an old water hose or any other rubber hose. Use as many hinges as you wish. I think I put 3 on the last +60qt i repaired. That was many moons ago and never an issue.

Works great and will last longer than you will.

I use an old leather belt. Cut it to length, run the screw through the leather then into the holes already there and call it a day.

I’ve done this with 100% success. You don’t need to run it the whole length though. A couple 3-4” pieces works just as good

I've used wide nylon ratchet straps material. Particularly on the ones that come off flatbeds.

I use old lifting straps on all of my ice chests. They last longer than the ice chest.

If you don't have access, keep an eye out as you drive down the road. A 4' section will last you forever.

I've used the exact same hinges, only I fastened them with large pop rivets and they hold up very well.

Kinda like my dad did in the 80’s. He’d cut the leather belt loop off of Lee jeans and put (4) 5/16” wood screws through it where the broken plastic hinge was. Good times!

I never knew they sold these! If it were me I'd put some JB Weld on the screw threads. That setup would last forever.

Cut up a good koozie. A good one, not the cheap foam ones. Works perfectly and they are available in piles right there in my truck door.

That's what I do. But I can also see how my post wasn't clear on that!

Did this years ago to an igloo. The ice chest is falling to pieces, but the leather hinges are doing fine.
