Long story short… my washer going out (Samsung)… terrible investment… had it for 3 years … 1st year the digital inverter motor went out took 3 months to get fix… has been a piece of shite since did…

I’m wondering has anyone on here invested in a commercial washer and dryer for home use? Prices comparable to some high end non commercial models… another plus their non HE so it’s more water to clean clothes…

Speed Queen is pushed hard around here. J recommend a no frills option you can fix with a YouTube video

Apparently the bad news is they all suck now and you have to search for a good used model from a certain year backwards to actually have a decent washer/dryer now.

I have a commercial Maytag washer and dryer. Super simple settings without all the digital bullshite in the other models. Cleans better than the new ones too. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Speed Queen. Amazing. Some reviews don’t rate it as high because it’s water usage doesn’t fit the definition of eco friendly. However it is old school, has superb cleaning ability, fast and reliable.

We literally just replaced a Whirlpool front-load washer after 12 years. Replaced with a Maytag top load that has a 10-year warranty on motor and drum. Bought the 5 year extended warranty for other parts.

I read not long ago to avoid LG and Samsung for washers.

I've had Samsung appliances, (including W/D) for 20 years. I've had two ice makers fail, and a front loader stink (which isn't exclusive to Samsung,) because women can't stand an open door to let it dry out. LG for two years, no issues.

Investing in an "asset" that decreases in value as soon as you unbox it by 50%. Smart. You don't need to buy $2000 washer dryer combos with stands and drawers and shite.

Speed Queen or the commercial Maytag (as above) no matter what the cost. TOP LOAD ONLY

We inherited a new top load GE with a house and I have replaced the water fill assembly, and the door lock controller; both after separate incidents of failure.

Previous Bosch front loader often won't drain enough to spin, door seal gets gross, washer door gasket retaining ring rusted and broke on an annual basis --frequently enough that I broke down and bought the special pliers for the retaining ring spring.

MIL's LG front load blew the water fill assembly (while also slow leaked out of the solenoid winding itself -- first I had ever seen that) it slow leaked all over the floor, sub floor, and eventually into the wall. Wires to the main motor (cool design...except for the wire routing) on the back of the drum broke from the vibration - that took a while to track down. Suspension spring for the whole outer drum broke and tore the door seal...oh yea door seal itself too...and the washer door gasket retaining ring.

We have a Samsung gas stove and I am happy to report it has been great...except the the knobs which have a plastic core and only last about 10 years. Seems like every one else has huge issues with Samsung gas stoves....not us.

We have reached the point where cars and appliances are now so crammed with so much electro-crap they cannot reliably fulfil their intended purpose more than a year or two from new.

They sell it to you and you are screwed for any help to repair.

Used to be Speed Queen, but they are not the same ultra reliable units that were made 5 plus years ago.

Do your research on speed queens made the last few years and trouble of using their warranty.

The GOAT would be a restored 1993-2008 Whirlpool direct drive. The holy grail of washers. I tell people who have them anything in them is worth replacement. As long as the frame isn't rusted it will last forever.

There are speed queens with digital controls now, I would pass on that and go with the one with the manual dials - as mentioned above the TC5

Commercial Maytag... have had no problems. Had a very awful front loading LG before.

Parents had always purchased Kenmore. Sears brand and still available. Google them. Still have theirs and they had a long time prior to their deaths 6 years ago.

I won't ever buy Samsung, GE or LG washer/dryer.

For refrigerators. Whirlpool or Frigidaire.

In fact, won't buy any GE appliances.

At first I balked at speed queens price... but then saw they last 20 frickjng years...cost wise no trainer long term.

Thing is a straight up tank. No frills...no bullshite. Our 3 year old son might inherit this thing from us
