He is ready! I assume he would not mind owning Pelicans too.

He’s one of the richest Americans alive and has 3 to 4 times the net worth of Benson.

Didn't realize he had that much. I had seen earlier estimates of 5 to 7 billion. Yeah, $22 billion probably does it provided he can get enough liquidity. I assume the bulk of what he has is tied up in Canes. You would have to think the Saints might go for something in the $10 billion range. Maybe more.

Most billionaires have their net worth tied up in businesses and are not simply liquid. However, investors, banks and investment companies love to provide the liquidity to those that have that kind of worth. Currently, the Saints are reportedly worth between $5-$6 billion so would depend on how far into the future we are talking about.

Are the Saints really worth only $5 to $6 billion? I know you can't value a franchise as you would a normal business, but didn't the LA Lakers recently go for $10 billion? I would think in general that an NFL franchise is more valuable than an NBA franchise. And I thought I read that a 10% stake in the NY Giants went for a billion (although I may have that wrong).

NFL bylaws say that you only need 30% liquid to purchase a team, you can also have minority investors and up to like 1.5 bil in debt to make the sale happen. I seriously doubt the saints are worth more than $4.5bil right now.

So the question really is, does Todd have the ability to scrounge together ~1.5bil liquid.

Honestly for people like him, it’s less of a business decision and more of a personal. The NfL is a cash monster. The worst team still profits 10s of millions a year. So really, the fact that he’s already saying he’s interested is enough. If the opportunity presents itself, he will buy.

He could save the franchises tbh. Ultra rich billionaire who is actually from the state and cares about its success. Would be a good deal for us.

From my sauce he doesn’t want the pels. Benson is willing to sell them now if he would take both franchises but he only wants the saints.

Been saying this for a while now. I figured he would be and truthfully I think he’d be good at it.

Anything can be had at the right price. I’m sure her valuation is too high for his comfort, but major sports franchises print money.

Gayle could sell part of them team to him. Something he can afford now. Minority ownership. It would be a start.

Haven't seen anything that says Graves is interested in the Pelicans.. that may change if the state ponies up another ridiculous arena lease for them though

Gayle could also sell her majority and let Graves be majority while she takes the minority role. That would make the most sense.
