I was finishing my senior year of high school then moving to my first apartment in BR to start my first semester at LSU. Life was pretty good.

12 years old, living the life in Zachary

Spent my summers at Fennwood country club playing ping-pong, nearly every day all day

Shot nutria rats with pellet guns

Rode bikes around without any worry in the world, was always home before dark

Had my last kid, really started to launch at work.

Still in my 30s, had that nice combination of energy and some experience and the beginnings of wisdom.

Was listening to a mentor at that time who was a young 78 years-old, mostly retired landscape architect, WWII veteran. Next door neighbor. Glad I paid attention. Paid off bigly, not just fiscally, life-wise.

Summary: if you’re between 25 and 45- find a good mentor and listen to them

Damn good. Out of college and making decent money. Single and enjoying it. Had my own home/car and could pay the bills and save a bit. And, was dating this little goth chic that looked a lot like Maphra does now

12 years old, Tangi parish, bouncing between the country club and friends' houses with no adult supervision to do hoodrat things. Stealing beers from parents, shooting animals and fishing on my buddy's dad's property. School was easy, all star baseball and select soccer was a blast, the internet was popping up at friends' houses.

98 was great.

Spring/Summer 1998 was the greatest time of my life. I was living out west and in high school. I had a very rough go for the prior 4 years, but everything came together that summer. Had my first girlfriend, first concert, first whitewater rafting trip, first time backpacking, first time camping without the parents. It’s impossible to describe how much fun we had.

Even today when things go to shite I think back to that summer and how grateful I am that I got to live that experience… doesn’t fix a damn thing, but it makes me a little less depressed!

Just bought my first house, was single, had two boats, and basically did what I wanted to do without answering to anyone...

Life was pretty sweet.

Where were you living?
Baton Rouge

What were you doing?
Second year at L.S.U.

What was your trajectory at the time?
That was the year I had my epiphany and realized that I did not have the temperament to become a teacher, so I switched my major to business administration.
