Way too early thoughts on opening weekend, or things you want to see going forward.

Yes, its only been three games, everyone knows this. But just wanting general opinions on what everyones overall thoughts were good, bad or indifferent. Everything we heard leading up to the season proved to be pretty true. I didn't think we got to see the infield really get tested, Caraway had a nice play at third on a weak hit ground ball but didn't get to see many double play balls or difficult catches or throws from the infield. Thought Simpson had a really rough weekend at the plate, didn't see anything that really stood out or that was impressive from him. Was kinda suprised he got the start Friday. Didn't last year and still dont like Cowan as a high leverage closer just based on stuff and pitch mix. Looks like we have a ton of options there, curious to see how that plays out. Really interesting watching Jay's approach to figuring it all out. We saw just enough of everyone to keep us all guessing for the next one.

Like every single year, we won't know about the hitting until SEC play begins.
The pitching doesn't look like a natty unit, but also too early to tell.

More people would read this if you separated thoughts a little better instead of posting a wall of text
But overall, nice analysis.
I think we are going to see that 5 dudes could be weekend starters on the bump for this group
And 16+ can be in the starting lineup with little to 0 drop-off
This is a deep team with way less superstars than we're use to
But some of these absolute dudes will make themselves superstars....Jay sees them and develops them
We've got the best coach in the nation

I would say starting pitching has serious potential but is the only real question on this team. Are they going to be just good or great?
Relief pitching and closers look like a real strength.
Position players look damn good on defense and batting.

Guidry and Sheerin both look really good coming back from injury. Both look like reliable SEC slate pitchers, no matter where they end up in the rotation.
Guidry has always looked like a closer with his edge and did a nice job in that role in 23. But Rizy has that mow them down velo that worked so well for Shores closing games last year. Fontenot looked pretty good yesterday with some higher than expected velo, as well. It’s good to have multiple options who can bring a game home, depending on the matchup.

Based off this weekend,
-Your whole staff has swing and miss stuff.
-Sheerin has the look of your end of game shut down guy
-Cooper Moore was a great get
-Guidry looks to be healthy and will be huge in the late innings
-Yorke is a great hitter, much more than just a power hitter
-Dardar needs to start at 2nd
-Arrambide made a HUGE jump

If even one person like Evans settles into a Friday guy who can give you 7 quality innings, then our staff's depth and variety can win most SEC weekends.

Hahaha great analysis. It didn't seem that long originally. But you are correct.

It’s one series against an average at best opponent, won all three continue to improve and adjust

Milwaukee's pitching wasn't great but they have some guys who can hit.
Posted on 2/15/26 at 5:26 pm to BiggaGeauxrilla
-Yorke is surprisingly nimble for 295 lbs.
-Dardar, Brown, Curiel and Milam are going to keep us in every series this season
-Jay is having fun and that means a lot of wins this year.
-We have an amazing bounty of guys that throw incredibly hard.

Watching the rest of CBB and I couldn’t be any less concerned.

Schmidt has improved his control. Yeskie seemed to be forcing things on him today. I don’t think his outing was as bad as most will say. Yeskie calls a CB at the right time he only allows 1.
We will hit the ball well this year. Hard to say who will be the final 9 but DC, Milan, Brown, York, and Arrambide will lead the way
Guidry back is huge for this team. Sheerin looked good. Cant wait to see more from Fontenot and Williams will be Griffin 2.0
Defense didn’t get tested too much but we obviously looked much better than our foes this weekend. I thought the outfield was impressive. There’s a lot of speed running balls down there

Last years unit didn’t look like a natty unit, until suddenly it was.
I think they have a lot of talented pitchers. I think they will be strong enough when the time comes.
I think the team overall is talented enough to win a natty. Will they?
Idk yet….
