Does a mayor have the power to override law enforcement?

This is a speedrun to demoralize any good police in that city which is needed to destroy it

Each president gets to decide what laws to enforce (or not).

Why should a mayor be different for city ordinances?

Attempted murder isn't a city ordinance. It's a state crime in this case.

At what point does the governor step in? We know she’s able to.

May not need to step in if Mamdani is just posturing. The state will pick up the charges and he'll be tried in his jurisdiction. Which means he'll probably be set free.

I mean, the perp is obviously horribly mentally ill. If they can confine him without a trial indefinitely, I'm OK with that.

This just happened with the American guy that killed his father in Ireland while in the throes of a horrible bipolar/schizo episode. He was found not guilty due to insanity.

Henry McGowan, 31, from Clinton Street, Brooklyn, New York, killed his 66-year-old father John McGowan at Ballyfin Demesne on 12 November 2024.

Thanks, no need to post the video for me. I was wondering why some poster was talking about a city ordinance.

Not saying you are wrong that they have a say, but neither should have that kind of influence.

The only reason they do is because people do not do the right thing... admittedly that would be costly to buck either.
