“Mutiny after Midnight”
Johnny Blue Skies and the Dark Clouds

Made with his touring band, hopefully there’s a tour announcement coming soon. Sturgill in concert is a must attend experience

I had tickets to the Brandon Amp show and couldn’t go. But we did get to see him and the band in SF at dead 60. Incredible set and then the man came out and led a morning dew for the ages

“I wrote words to what is happening in the world and my life in real time, and played with a group of musicians I deeply love and respect,” Simpson said. “Together, we made an album that is very fun, and will hopefully offer some relief from darkness in the world.”

Trending Stories

Simpson spent last year on the road, including an appearance at the Grateful Dead 60th-anniversary celebration in San Francisco in August (like he did at the Kennedy Center Honors in late 2024, he performed “Ripple”). Hopefully, Mutiny After Midnight tour dates are incoming.

Mutiny After Midnight Track List
1. Make America Fuk Again
2. Excited Delirium
3. Don’t Let Go
4. Stay On That
5. Viridescent
6. Situation
7. Venus
8. Everyone Is Welcome
9. Ain’t That a Bitch

His Brandon show was 3 hours of straight fire and more of the same at GD60. The Dew in the Park was one for the ages. I hope does NOLA or he goes back to Brandon as that was a good time and not too far from SWLA.

Ye. My only complaint is he only got like a 45 minute set in the park. Sucks for curfews. If not for that I feel like the openers could have played longer.

So is this new album/project not going to be on any streaming platform?

I can respect it but it's odd to create new music under a new name and only release it via physical media.

Would be nice if he at least put it on bandcamp so people can buy the album for streaming.

Love Sturgill, but just glancing at a couple of those song titles makes me think he’ll be going full Jason Isbell liberal cry baby with this one.
