Your new LSU Mens Basketball HC

Garrett Temple
He cares about the university. He played here. He understands what it means to win in Baton Rouge and what LSU basketball is supposed to look like.
He’s a hard nosed defender who played under John Brady, so you already know the identity would be toughness and defense. Add 16 years of NBA experience, a reputation as a locker room leader, and the respect he has across the league. He’s basically been a player-coach the last few seasons, mentoring young guys. He’s even VP of the NBA Players Association. That tells you how he’s viewed.
Build it on culture, defense, and leadership. Also he's only 39 so it will inject some youth and fire into the program. Who's not going to want to play for a 16-year NBA vet with infinite knowledge not to mention we have the money resources for recruiting.

If he wants to coach college basketball, I have no doubt he’ll be successful. But asking someone with no HC experience and no experience in the portal / NIL space to take over this program right now is not a good decision.

Valid, but does he have other ambitions.

Couldn’t be any worse

All you need is the right guys around him. Does HC experience even matter anymore when you have guys in the Pros taking over and doing good jobs because of their IQ and hiring the right assistants?

Yes, lets hire a guy who has never coached a basketball game in his life, let alone run a program. Genius!

He did absolutely lock down gay J as a freshman

No offense but I don’t want anyone with Temple as their last name anywhere near the program.

I thought this was sarcasm… at first.

Why do fans get so enamored with you have to get a guy that gets the university and played there?
That’s the biggest BS ever. Get the best person for the job.

There seems to be more than a few fans who think that if you perform well in the pros, that you are automatically qualified to coach. I’m not one of them.

Yeah let’s keep missing out on Louisiana recruits.

I'm good with it, as long as we get him a $10 mil NIL budget.
