Spin-off from the NBA expansion topic?

Are the Dumont/Adelson family looking at a Vegas franchise, or is this more fallout from the Luka trade?

Apparently has everything to do with casinos. That is what their end goal is. If TX won’t grant gaming licenses - which was Adelson’s plan all along - they have no interest in owning the team. FYI this is from the rumor mill

Maybe Eduardo Najera will get a place in the front office.

I still find it unbelievable they think obtaining a gaming license and building a casino in Texas is something that will happen in the near term future. There is simply no way they are that naive to the political atmosphere in the state

Something breaks in people's brains when they have so much money they are used to being able to buy whatever they want.

It should be viewed as a sickness that people could have so much wealth yet somehow have an unending insatiable need for more .

Maybe this time he won’t do such a dumbass rebrand. Blows me away this guy thinks the changes he made to brand were good.

Well, we have Muslims creating entire towns with political help, so maybe the thought of allowing gambling wasn't that big of a stretch...

The rumors around them buying the Mavs because they expect to be able to build a casino around a new arena have been out there since they bought the team

I still can’t believe Cuban sold with a handshake agreement that he’d still be able to run basketball operations.

This is what happened. Nico cozied up to that moron Patrick Dumont to push Cuban out of the decision-making process behind his back & Dumont somehow okayed the worst trade in sports history after Nico ran it by him for approval. By the time Cuban found out about the trade he had no power to stop it. There will be books & documentaries made about this trade.

Cuban and Dumont tried to put a clause in the sale documents reserving basketball decisions for Cuban. The NBA said no, the governor has to have all authority. Cuban still went through with the sale!

His biggest mistake was not getting any players to help Dirk out after they won the title. Its like after that he stopped caring. Even in the title year Dirk drug them to it without a ton of help. Would their fans want to go back to dry powder days?

F Cuban.

He knew who he was selling to. It was no surprise they were more concerned about casino gaming than basketball.

Nico was a Cuban guy. Mark had to have given him some sort of seal of approval and the new owners trusted Cuban’s judgment.

For years after winning the title, Cuban “kept the powder dry” and tried to get a free agent who would turn the team around. Instead, he’d be left at the altar with a mediocre team but his powder was dry.

Now the Mavs have Cooper and Cuban wants back in? Nah.

Yeah I know I guess I don't understand why you need to own a team to build a casino around an arena
