Then she said works 3 days a week.

How much time off do these people expect when they only work 3 days a week in the first place?

I feel bad for employers today. The entitlement is crazy

She could have 7 days a week off… would probably complain about that too.

Sounds like she's a part time employee. Is it possible she was referring to the company's pto policy as it applies to everyone who works for it?

She's low on energy because she doesn't eat meat.

She could be complaining about not being able to have a whole week off to take a vacation or two during the year. When my wife was still in clinical rotation, working 4 days a week, it was still hard as hell to be able to get a whole week off without finagling other doctors to cover each other's shifts and whatnot.

Hate to derail, what is the reasoning behind high suicide rate of female vets?

Can’t deal with dog death?

No defense of the chick complaining in the OP but working weekends is a special kind of fricked up schedule.

Unless you are a loaner or just have no social life you will not like it.

Having Mon-Thurs off is fine at first until you realize nothing fun is happening and none of your friends can schedule around your schedule.

Four days off a week? Four? thats insane.

but for real, I could never work that little. I dont even like having two days off in a row unless ive got a trip planned or something.

This mindset is boggling to me. We live one time and people want to spend it working and 95 percent doing essentially meaningless work at that.

She probably works 3 -12 hour shifts. The emergency vet by me I think does 3 on 4 off 4 on 3 off, 12s type of thing.

Don’t most nurses work 3-12s and are considered full time?

well first of all my work is not meaningless, even subjectively. I enjoy every day I work, it's fun , challenging, and rewarding.

I dont think you understand me, im not saying I am going to die with my work boots on. Im saying I would rather just be working than sitting on my arse watching netflix all day.

I would take 3 day weeks over any vacation policy

Fair but those aren't the only two options. Not being able to enjoy a weekend without big plans is puzzling to me

Most coal mines in the 70s and 80s only gave 1 week a year vacation to everyone at the same time - 4th of July week. Whether you wanted off at that week or not, didn't matter, you were off that one week of the year.

I'd rather have today's flexibility as far as time off is concerned.

Well I guess if coal mines did it in the 70s we shouldn’t complain

My little sister is a vet and she works her arse off, probably 50-60 hours a week plus on call two nights a week.
