The NFL would have folded years ago. The people in charge of running it just can’t take a win when it’s sitting right in front of them.

The Super Bowl is being played in the Bay Area of California this year. Do you know what Bay Area band has never played the Super Bowl before? Metallica. Probably one of the last few items Metallica has left to scratch off its list of things still left to accomplish at this stage of their careers. It would have been a huge deal for them and a great get for the NFL to play the halftime show. It would have easily been one of the highest rated halftime shows of all time. Everyone would have been excited to see that happen. Not the NFL though. They would rather get some idiot that doesn’t even speak English most of the time that will try to make some far left political statement and cause controversy. This year should have been a layup for the NFL and they choke. The ratings for the halftime show will be abysmal when it could have been huge.

The NFL is still mad about St. Anger.

Give it time. Baseball was America'a favorite sport for over 100 years and look at it now. Destroyed by strikes, scandals, and fan boredom.

I don’t care if all they did was stand on stage and recite Shakespeare. It would still be better than Bad Bunny.

Have you ever looked at who owns many of the NFL teams? Think of the colors blue and white.

It's about green. They're working for international TV contracts and trying to get new eyeballs of new international fans. That's also why the Saints are playing the first NFL game in Paris next year (also first regular season games in Australia and Rio coming up).

A five year old could have thought to book a band like Metallica. One of the biggest bands across all genres of music all time. Still has a huge following to this day. From the area the game is being played in. This was an easy easy pick for this year and they flat blew it to give it to a guy that will make them look stupid.

I think they actually want to phase American football out & eventually replace it with men’s & women’s soccer.

Metallica is huge all over the world. I think I heard a few years ago that they have sold more tickets than any other act in history. Like I said this one was easy this year and the NFL managed to face plant in epic fashion.

Metallica's peak popularity was over 30 years ago

If they had a shot at a halftime show, it was before the mid-90s or in that period after Nipplegate when they went with old man rock groups (with Prince randomly thrown in the middle)

My fav commie is a commie but he’s absolutely right about this.

They are targeting soccer.

Just like socialists and Muslims they are being patient but steadily spreading.

You're absolutely correct about the missed opportunity. Metallica would have been the perfect choice.

The NFL focus is international, though.

The secret is: If they had Metallica for the half time show, NO ONE would be talking about it.

They hire some fruitcake Mexican no one has ever heard of and it’s all anyone can talk about. THAT is a win in their book.
