Sign says 20 while flashing.
Cop could give ticket even middle of night. Would be a dick move.
Jefferson Terrace school has been flashing for a week.

If it's flashing, I'm following what it says. Not worth the hassle fighting it in court to save a few seconds, at least for me.

Also when they're still flashing at 430 for some reason when not a single soul around (when you drive by often at different times and know it's a sign or clock malfunction)
You can tell who the idiots are in these situations

I know in New Orleans the cameras dgaf what day it is, they'll ticket you for going 22 in a 20 even when schools are out.

In Texas there are too many of these units for DOT to turn them off. Also, there are many different versions of school calendars, 4 or 5 day weeks. Way to many variables. We do make sure to turn in a request to be off during summer break and those are handled easily enough.
If DOT would allow schools to control them it would be easy to do but DOT controls them. No problem with me since I would not want to be the one to do it.

Remove all doubt.
The fewer questions you have to answer, the better.

I think New Orleans school zones are until 4:45 p.m. when no one is still on the school property.
Nothing like a money grab.

In New Orleans, half the time they are not flashing when they should be. Seems this should be grounds to get out of the ticket to me

Schools zones in Baton Rouge are completely worthless. How many kids are walking to school and crossing the street?

One of the most annoying things about Richwood building their new schools on Hwy 165.

The school I worked at a few years back had a LMPD cop that would sit on a side street near the flashers and pull people over even when school wasn't in session for speeding when the lights were flashing. We'd have people come into the school to complain about it.
I go with what the flashers say. I wouldn't be surprised if departments use it to help meet quotas.

A school we often drive past is fairly good about the timing of the flashng, but one time they were about two hours off. We called, and their principal said they knew and had placed a call to the person who comes out to reset it.
That surprised us that it couldn't be done quickly, but someone has a job for life, easily replaced by AI except for snow days, holidays etc.

It's like that where I live too... I can't stand it.

At my kids' school about 50 walk to and from school/home.
Then another 50 pretend to walk home b/c their moms park one block away to bypass the carpool line, but that's another story.
So in all ~100 walk across busy streets 2x a day so the school zones absolutely are not worthless. We do have crossing guards also.

Well then, why not notify them so they can fix their timer….because if it is working when no one is around, the chances are that it is not working when kids are around.

Aint gonna hurt you to slow down for 1/2 mile. The ticket will haunt you for years on insurance payments.
