Largest plastic surgeon’s org. (now the AMA) changes stance on youth gender-affirming care

Both organizations are now stating officially that gender-affirming care should be relegated to those (adults) 19 and over.
There is much silence on this story from the MSM (after quoting the AMA for years) and it comes right after California sues a children’s healthcare system for shuttering its gender affirming care for those under 19.

And now the AMA (the largest physician group in the country) a day later is now following (couldn’t get behind the NYT’s pay site so had to get a quote from an article I won’t link):

The nation’s leading plastic surgery organization announced Tuesday its recommendation against gender transition surgeries for young people, citing "insufficient evidence" to support the procedures for patients under 19.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), which represents 92% of board-certified plastic surgeons in the U.S., issued the new position statement to members who provide gender-related services.
Breaking from other major medical groups in the U.S. who’ve supported these treatments, the ASPS recommends that surgeons delay all chest, genital, and facial gender surgeries until a patient reaches at least age 19. The ASPS clarified it was not setting clinical practice guidelines with the statement.
The ASPS concluded that the current evidence base for these interventions is of "low certainty" regarding mental health outcomes.
"ASPS concludes there is insufficient evidence demonstrating a favorable risk-benefit ratio for the pathway of gender-related endocrine and surgical interventions in children and adolescents," the statement reads.
And now the AMA (the largest physician group in the country) a day later is now following (couldn’t get behind the NYT’s pay site so had to get a quote from an article I won’t link):
quote:
The American Medical Association, which has long supported gender-affirming care for transgender youth, has now endorsed some restrictions.
The AMA recommended Wednesday that any gender-affirming surgeries be delayed until adulthood, The New York Times reports. While genital surgery is almost never performed on minors, some teens undergo top surgery or facial modifications. Gender-affirming care for youth more commonly includes puberty blockers, hormone therapy, social transition, and counseling.
The AMA’s policy shift comes a day after the American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommended that surgeons delay breast/chest, genital, and facial surgery until a patient is at least 19 years old.

That’s because states like Florida are about to replace them with other credentialing boards for being leftist wackos.

That's a crushing blow for the trannies.

Firstly, F the AMA.
Secondly, this should have been the recommendation long, long ago. Want to do something surgically that permanently and irreversibly changes your body in dramatic ways forever? Must be an adult. Shouldn’t be controversial.

there was a recent lawsuit as well. A now adult sued for malpractice in New York and won $2m because the plastic surgeon removed here breasts while a minor......
New York Times article
so if liberal juries in New York are going against the practice, then they can lose anywhere....
hitting them in their malpractice insurance and they listen.,.....

Correct. Now that a legal president has been set that all these doctors were fricking up by ripping out little girls organs they are trying to get on the right side of it. Yeah it’s a win for common sense but it just highlights and organization with no integrity and no concept of morality.

It’s good the pendulum is finally swinging back. This was always malpractice from day one. Can’t leave a decision like this up to a) minors or 2) their woke parents who didn’t want to seem “transphobic” by not “supporting” the kid do something so drastic.
This is a W for sanity.

They get mostly grief but here I have to say thank goodness for the lawyers.
They tore this butchery down.

You are being polite. Many of these parents coached their kids into this for their own self gratification and virtue farming. Age will provide clarity if they aren’t too screwed up.
