Is that not the sentiment this go around? That we are going to really compete for top of the medal count in golds?

Maybe. But be prepared for the countries that will go crazy when they beat Americans. It may be hard to watch.

We only dominate the medal count at the summer games.

We do very well every winter Olympics but nothing like summer. We usually finish top 2-3 in total medals and top 2-5 in gold.

Yeah I'm not sure China has ever finished ahead of us or even top 5 in winter. Russia usually below us or right next to us. It's Germany, Norway and to a lesser extent Canada that are above us usually in the winter games

Yeh Norway is the clear leader in all time power rankings followed by Germany, us and Canada. Russia/Soviet Union is around the top. But no one comes close to Norway. China is 16th.

There’s routinely ~5 countries at the top and you left out all time #1-3… and included china???

1 Norway
2 USA
3 Germany

I love that they're spreading the soccer matches all over the country. It's infinity hilarious that CCC (Communist City of Chicago) was told to kick rocks.

As for the Olympics proper, a lot of it is because we've become very good hosting both Summer and Winter games. The last time they were in LA was the last time they were profitable pre-"sustainable games" edict. They are taking a chance by flipping swimming and T&F weeks but it could pay off big with swimming in SoFi. Thanks to my wife's company we're pretty sure we'll be going with sponsor tickets.

Almost never. Its Norway's to lose, especially without the Russians fully participating.

The question was about the 2028 LA Games. The Utah Winter Games aren't until 2034.
