A new poll finds that Congresswoman Julia Letlow is the preferred choice of Republican primary voters. The survey of 600 voters conducted by pollster Greg Rigamer finds Letlow receiving 27% of the vote to incumbent Bill Cassidy’s 21%. Business lobbyist Alton Ashy paid for the poll.

“I think this poll has confirmed what we have been hearing, in that Senator Cassidy has issues in getting reelected,” Ashy said.

But Cassidy’s campaign has its own poll conducted by Republican firm Public Opinion Strategies. It shows Cassidy getting 32% of the Republican primary vote to Letlow’s 21%. Cassidy says the race is about who has delivered for Louisiana.

“Who’s worked with this president and other presidents on things like HALT Fentanyl, the Educational Choice for Children Act and other things,” Cassidy said.

The Rigamer survey shows Letlow leading Cassidy 57%-22% in a head-to-head matchup. The survey also finds that only 22% of Republican primary voters believe Cassidy deserves reelection. Ashy, who has been around Louisiana politics for decades, says President Trump’s endorsement of Letlow is a key factor.

“With the president’s endorsement of her, in a closed primary system, I just don’t see anybody overcoming that,” Ashy said.

Ashy organized fundraisers for both Letlow and Governor Landry during Washington Mardi Gras.

Cassidy Campaign and the Senate Republican Campaign led by John Thune is going to go even more negative against Rep. Letlow with this poll out. Hopefully he makes himself out to be such a deranged jackass that he doesn’t make the primary runoff.

Fleming vs Letlow and let the chips fall where they may.

I just don't care how she came into politics. Husband dies then she steps in. Granted she was reelected by voters, this stinks of Louisiana politics.

Letlow in good position because of the significant amount of anti-Cassidy voters. Cassidy is done.

wasn't long after Letlow entered the Cassidy push poll bs and now tv ads have started.

Hoping we can pull Fleming through but I'll take just about anyone over Cassidy.

Cassidy has a lot of money behind him but he is so far behind the 8 ball with his previous jackassery.

Fleming is my preferred choice of the current GOP candidates, but if the primary runoff comes down to Letlow vs Cassidy, I’m happily voting Letlow.

Sorry women give you such a personal complex.

You guys do realize it is a closed primary this year and not a jungle primary right? We need to rally behind one canidate and not split the vote ,because if we do than Cassidy could win the Primary. I think this is Cassidy's strategy ,because there is quite a crowded field for the GOP.

I have seen zero evidence JL would be any different than Cassidy.

Well this is silly.

She had to win a special election for her husbands seat and has won said seat two more times.

A total of 3 elections which I’m sure she would have gladly traded the seat in congress to have her husband and father of her children still alive.

You do realize a candidate has to get 50% +1 in order to win the primary, right? If there’s enough voters to give Cassidy that, then it doesn’t matter how many candidates are in the primary.

Can you outline the votes she's taken against (or the times she's stood out against) the general consensus of the Republican Party?

I know the times Cassidy has done so and it's pretty damn shitty.

I'm trying to figure out what you've seen in her that would make you say you don't think she would be ANY different.

I think my favorite thing about this election cycle will be Bill Cassidy realizing you can't just vote however you fricking want to and get away with it. You vote the will of the people you represent. It's not like we said "he's a great liver doctor. We should let him think about how he wants to vote on these issues..."

He sounds like a great physician and I think his talents are best served in that field. It's time to return to the private sector, doctor.

She’s fricking terrible and will stab maga in the back almost as much as Cassidy. Fleming is the choice and a no brainer.
Too bad Trump compromises with Thune on endorsements when he should be CHANGING the senate and house to MAGA majorities.

Just think if he would’ve been loud and endorsing good candidates for the past ten years instead of Lindsey graham types.
