Question for the board, how long should a politician be in congress?

I have proposed a total of 20 years total. You can add another 8 years if you're elected POTUS or serve as VP.

The 20 years could be a combination of House and Senate but in total one could only serve 20 years.

If the DC Uniparty would pass a balanced budget amendment along with term limits and a ban on congressional members and their immediate family trading stocks I think we would see some real change for the better.

Term limits should be the same across the board.

It's 2 for president, make it 2 for the rest.

It was never intended to be a career.

Wouldn’t 20 years be the definition of a career politician?

If voters (you plural) would have the discipline to not continuously vote for incumbents, this wouldn't be an issue.

Two terms and you never get my vote again. I keep voting against Markwayne Mullin and James Lankford, but the retards keep pushing the incumbents through the primaries.

New blood is necessary. Politics shouldn't be a career.

4 term for house and 2 terms for Senate. The 17th Amendment must be removed and US Senators must be elected bu their respective state houses.

It’s pie in the sky.

The hogs will never vote to remove themselves from the trough.

Depends on the length of time we define as a career.

Here's the reality, if Congress was term limited at 20 years approximately 70 members of Congress, currently serving would be ineligible to run for reelection. Interestingly enough many of those 70 are the ones who are the reliable gatekeepers of the DC Uniparty....go figure.

Once a politician is elected and proves to be a good soldier for their corporate backers it's hard to get them out of government because of the corporate money that ensures their reelection.

Elections are a form of term limits.

I'd say 16 yrs or 4 terms whichever comes first. Then basically only executive branch can keep your career running and that's limited.

12 years Senate
10 years Representative

If you can't steal enough by then you're an idiot and need to go.

Term limits = Good Idea

Problem is that ship for implementation has sailed a long time ago.

What time was that?

When the Commies figured out that they couldn't change the American Way by following the US Constitution.

Now we are in a Globalist (those who seek to end American Independence and transition into a EU / WEF type format of governance) versus Nationalist (the US Constitution and it's protections are great and we should seek America being enriched first) scenario.

I'll never trust putting a (D) in office to end the career of a (R)

How about 20 years combined state and federal. If they served 20 years in the state they’re ineligible for federal. If they have served 10 years in the state, they eligible for 10 years federal.

It’s a double edged sword.

If you mandate two terms only for instance then you keep the best ones like Massie from staying around protecting our future.

But then you also kick Maxine down the road.

Tough decision but I would go with kicking the Maxines out earlier even if means losing future Massie types. We will need a lot more people willing to stand up to the corruption and overspending though.

What about age limits? No one should be 70-80 years old in government work.

The retirement age is currently below that. So, why is it normal to have ppl at this age making decisions for us?

Could you imagine someone 79 years old in a private job? That’s wild.

It’s a shame we need something to protect us from ourselves as voters.

These lifer-Congress critters will never impose a restriction upon themselves so while limits would probably be a very good thing (again protecting us against our own voting ignorance and laziness), I’m not sure how it ever gets implemented.

Whoever said elections are a form of term limits-no they are not! I cannot control who other districts elect and those people are creating policy that affects me. The only fair answer is term limits.
12 years total for congress. Any combination. I actually think both house and senate should be 4 year terms.
