Seems like an every down back.
Still have Javon Vital Jr and Trey Smith in the state as well…
Wonder how many we take. Id be ok with just taking Miles, especially with portal and our depth chart looking pretty solid so far.

Reminds me of Dylan Sampson.

Will be curious to see how many high school recruits Lane takes going forward. Is it always going to just be around 15-20, or was that just due to getting a late start?

Late start. I always assumed that high school recruiting was one of the things that brought him here. You don't have to get 40 transfers from the portal if you can recruit like it looks like he is and then re-recruit your roster like he did. If you evaluate well, you go into the portal and pluck maybe 8-10 players at positions of need every year. When you're looking for only 8-10, the portal gets exponentially easier.

I think Vital was trending hard for LSU a few months ago and was about to commit. Since the new staff has been in place I don’t think he’s as big of a priority. I’d look for him to land at USC, Ole Miss or Houston with USC being most likely. The national On3 guys think LSU is working from behind with Martin and that he’s trending to Bama. It’s very early tho

That's a big running back. The type that saben used to get.

It was always Kelly's plan to go light on HS recruiting and take more guys from the portal. I don't think it's the right strategy and expect CLK to sign 19-23 HS recruits/ year

Saw him play in person a few times last year. He definitely tears up high school defenses. Reminds me some of Nick Brossette.

To be fair, he only had to get 40 transfers in because he had almost 40 transfers out, which is expected with a coaching change.
I would guess typically he’d only want 15-20 portal and maybe the same HS.

Didn’t he have like a week? I’d say definitely late start.

I could see an argument that it’s better to spend money on a proven player in the transfer portal with multiple years remaining than a high school player that is unproven on the collegiate level. Especially because you aren’t getting these high school players on a “deal” if they are good, you’re going to have to pay them to keep them. Developing players that you sign out of high school doesn’t really have a great payoff in the current environment, because you’re still in a re-recruiting phase every year.

I’ve watched every game he’s played in the last 2 years. He compares the best to Leveon bell. He’s so patient behind his blockers and then explodes through the whole when it opens up. Cuts on a dime and can catch the ball extremely well, even can split out as a receiver. LSU needs this guy

Blue is the best comp so far in the thread.
