I could never walk past this place on Magazine (NOLA) and not get one of his songs stuck in my head...
Unfortunately, I didn't hold him in the same regard as you...

And great bass player, too.

There are two different Ceteras. The first was one I loved with a very groovy band called Chicago. It was a treat when Chicago came both speakers over the rear seat of my Dad's Buick back in the early 70s.
Then he went solo and put out the sappiest prom music crap ever contrived for a cash grab, and now we are subject to it while grocery shopping. "Next time I fall in love...baby please don't go..." STFU and please go away.

He was great before David Foster got a hold of his arse. Went from being a really good singer/bassist to singing some of the worst money grubbing ballads of all time and ruining Chicago.

I don't think that you know the story that well of Chicago and PC during the early to mid 1980's. There were several reasons why they started releasing those pop tunes that was very different from their early work.
And honestly Chicago got even worse in the late 80's up to the 90's with the stuff that they were releasing.

One of the worst in music history.

I worked Chicago back in the 80's at the CajunDome.
No opening act. Cetera was no longer with them, Terry Kath long dead.
They were tight. The horns stole the show. My vantage point was sitting atop the floor baffles, stage right.
I can only imagine what that would have been like with Peter Cetera and Terry Kath.
