It's got a different, bolder bite than black pepper. It's earthy and rich, layered and zesty.

Anyone else use it? It's not even expensive. I don't know why it isn't more common

Never heard of it before this. Where do you buy it?

Spice shops, online.

Grab a microplaner grinder. Works excellent

Experienced in while traveling through Indonesia. Very nice flavor but I don’t use it

I must agree underrated considering I’ve never even heard of it and I’m quite into spices and seasonings.

Never heard of it, but will try it. I like pepper.

I got some New Mexico chili powder while in Albuquerque. Looks like cayenne, but is not as hot and has a more complex flavor. Sometimes made from a combination of chilis.

If you're in Baton Rouge, Red Stick Spice has traditionally carried it: LINK

It has this lovely pungent floral scent when you plane it. Hard to describe. It's my new favorite spice.

Long pepper, unless used very sparingly, overwhelms most things it's put in. It has its place in some Indian/Asian dishes but it's not some super secret underutilized spice by any means.

That fibrous shite would clog that grinder in a second. Another thing I don't like about it.

So you use it sparingly, a little goes a long way. It's a great flavor

Oooooo I wonder what smoked long pepper would taste like...

I have IBS that's severely triggered by normal black pepper. So, I use ground white pepper.

I wonder how my IBS would react to long pepper? Anyone have any experience?
